Short Ram Intake question

Has anyone noticed a power loss with short ram intake? Specifically the Injen SP2? I have open flash tablet and just want the induction sound that SRIs make but not if I’m going to take a power LOSS with it in place. Once again, I don’t care about performance GAIN , only worried about Loss. Thanks! I have 2017 Toyota 86 and need CARB Cert that’s why I’m asking about injen.

Injen intakes will throw off the mas air flow sensor scaling by about 15% in car ive done so do most intakes.

If you want to fit an intake that wont throw of maf scaling get the Grimspeed intake

Its one of the few ibtakes that doesnt throw off maf scaling, just cgeck it fits 2017 as their are differences in intakes from the earlier models

This site did a round up of intakes. In short, most make power even without MAF scaling.

In theory, the longer the inlet ducts, the more laminar the airflow would be. If you want to increase the airflow, you'd be better off increasing the diameter instead of decreasing the length. But then again, I'm not sure what modifications need to be done to the MAF to compensate for that

For reference, it fits my 2017 perfectly.

you'll cause more harm than good. If you just want more noise just do the snorkle mod and get a K&N drop in filter. You wont screw with part throttle drivability and you wont have to worry about CARB stuff.

I've had the AFE/Takata followed by oem airbox with all resonators deleted and capped with a silicone intake tube and now I have the TRD airbox. The TRD airbox is lightyears better than modded oem on a 13-16 but from my understanding does little to nothing on a 17.

Mod the snorkel.
