Can I paint my wheels black?

I currently have left wheels (dark gray) in the picture and I am trying to paint or powder coat again my wheels like the right ones (black).
Do you think it's possible? If so, can it be permanent or just temporary?
I really need advice from wheel experts!

Yes. But I'd paint rather than powdercoat.

But off topic, does anyone know the paint code of the black PP wheels pictured? I have them on my 86 but I'm not sure if they are straight Crystal Black Silica or something else. Toyota don't know apparently

Welcome young grasshopper.
I see your google-fu is non existent.

Short answer: Yes.

Better answer: there are many ways and budgets to achieve the same results.
Best way and most expensive is powder coated. Depend on price could be anywhere from $50 to $100 per tire.
Middle way: actual paint. Simple enough paint and clear coat.
Cheap and removable: Plasti Dip. Chose your color $10-15 per can. If you don't like the color, peel off and start again.

You can easily look up any procedure on YouTube.

Painting wheels is a good DIY. Powder coating is not a DIY. Additionally Powder coating ovens generally run at 400f, a temp that is to hot for aluminum wheels. They should be baked at a lower temp, which takes longer. If the guy running the oven is powder coating other items besides wheels at the same time, your wheels may get "cooked" which weakens the aluminum.

All this is avoided by going to a reputable powdercoater, but expect to pay $100 per wheel minimum.

Good luck.
