Fog Light Adjustment Questions

Hi, I have a question regarding foglight adjustment height.
I understand that the recommendation is a 4 inch drop from foglight's center after 25 ft - but I think the FRS may differ.

"Proper front fog lights are mounted low down on the bodywork, and are angled down at a steeper angle than normal headlights. ... By switching the low-beam lights off, the driver can use the fog lights to illuminate the road directly in front of them, so they can proceed at low speed."

I tried this recommendation with my Luxeon Diode Dynamics LED projector fogs and I basically cannot even see any light from my fogs anymore because its all under the hood view.

I think the issue is in our seating position. On normal cars, even sedans, the driver has a sort of "looking down" angle which allows you to see more of the road closer to your car. - Since our position is basically low and as forward/parallel to the ground as possible, that makes our view angle a lot more straight. So, our lights have to be angled a bit more forward rather than downward. Instead of the 4-inch drop @ 25 feet, I made the beam pretty much level with the fog housings at 25 ft. I wouldn't think it would glare oncoming traffic because our again our cars are just so low and the housing is in a projector anyway.

Is it safe/ok to go against that Foglight install recommendation?

Find an open area and park in the dark.
Turn on fog lights.
Walk a 100 or so yards in front of the car.
Turn around and walk back.
If you get blinded walking back you are too high.
If you do not then you are OK.
Adjust lights accordingly.

I had those fog lights for a year or so and I’d recommend the slight decension you are describing, not level.

Being blinded by an LED projector system is IMO worse than a 35w hid bulb. Minimize the chance of it happening by aiming low.
