Does the 2017 with the PP come with these? If so, do I need a new TPMS kit If I’m gonna change the rims? TIA

theres 4 ways you can do the TPMS thing if you are gonna get new/different wheels.

1. transfer the TPMS from the stock wheels to the new wheels
a. requires you to unmount the stock tires, and pay the tire mounter a TPMS fee when
mounting your newer wheels/tires together

2. get new TPMS sensors from dealers/private party and reprogram at dealer.
a. much more costly

3. Store the stock wheels with TPMS in your garage within 10-15 feet of where you park every night and the TPMS light will never come on (what i did for 3-4 years)

4. ignore the TPMS light forever (and optional to unhook the TPMS light from the dashboard)

I wonder why it's THAT hard to support several TPMS sensor sets? :/
And running different wheels for summer/winter(/track) seems very often.
Seems fairly obvious and i somewhat doubt for that to be hard to implement, yet .. ?

1) tire shops only charge a "fee" because TPMS requires slightly more care to mount. It takes approximately 30 seconds more per wheel.
2) Use a Quickset tool (~$120) and you never have to pay again for someone else to reset your TPMS.
3) Mine was within 5' of the car and the light always turned on, and I drove the car every week for 3+ years.

Garage
^^ My summers are stored in the basement and almost every day my car picks them up from inside the garage. It's easily 20 feet straight line distance to the closest part of the car.

My point is, the whole "tires next to your car in the garage" thing is 1) not a real fix, and 2) results vary.

Mine is within 5' bc I store the wheels on a tire storage rack I bought from Tire Rack, nothing in between.

FWIW when I sold my car, the moment I put the stock wheels immediately next to the car the light went away.

All very nice answers but nobody has addressed the question.
Does the PP have sensors?
I can't find anything that says one way or another so I would presume they do?

I don't think this is how it works. If it was, then the simple solution would be to remove the sensors and put them in your glove box but I've never heard anyone make that suggestion. I feel like I read somewhere that it has some interaction with the wheel speed sensor.

Before I got the TPMS reset tool, my stock wheels/tires were stored approximately 1ft away from where I parked. The light would only turn on after 10-20miles of driving, I don't remember exactly. Unless I'm going for a drive looping my mountain over and over, the most I drive is 22miles. Typically not more than 10mi/day. I only saw the light turn on on longer drives.

The US spec PP does come with sensors.

They would still trigger since the pressure in your glove box is well below tire pressure (I hope!).

They are not linked to the speed sensors in anyway. It is just a small transmitter and pressure gauge.

There was a thread about a guy that took a spare and mounted all the sensors in it and just kept it in his truck. Seemed like a lot of trouble to not have a little light on.

interesting...

so in theory you could you cut down a bike tube, slip the sensors in, seal it up and and fill it with air to the necessary PSI? Then just velcro that little package under the passenger seat and be good to go...

I suppose. Unless the stems have to be outside that pressure.

Edit: You have to wade through some crap but the answer appears to be yes a tube should work.

So I guess the stock TPMS could be transferred to the new set of tires and wheels? Coz I’m planning to get the rims from tire rack and there’s an option of getting new set of those from them and a set of stems, i guess, which will go all for $300. That’s why i would like to know if i could just transfer the the stock ones coz those don’t go cheap
