Sequential gear changes, without changing the gearbox

Just saw this by chance and I had to share it.

I think it’s such a clever, neat solution... not sure if it will fit the twins, but really cool engineering solution.

What do you guys think?

www.bremershifters.com

*Edit:* our cars run with a TL70 gearbox which they don’t cater for yet.

Current cost is $2400 on pre-order for early 2018. Personally think this is over-priced but considering their competition is a full sequential box...

Good news is they are apparently expanding the options of cars this will work with.

Only loosely related, but a lot of semis nowadays have automated manuals. The have an xy valve mounted where the shifter bolts on and a little electric motor mounted to the clutch fork. I wonder if that'll be used in sports cars one day. Should be able to work quite well with a paddle shifter type gear selector.

You still use three pedals it just eliminates the H pattern shifter.

And the need for a clutch after launch!

Edit... shit I saw sequential and thought it was the transmission. It is just a shifter. That makes no sense to me!

Why the hell would I want a sequential shifter on a normal transmission.

I bet they are going to sell thousands so people think they have a high performance transmission. I put this in line with those awesome 10hp vents you stick on the side.

Lol.
And racing stripes.
I think it’s an interesting option to at least let you feel like you have a sequential box.

Sequential shifters have been around a while. They are very expensive so are pretty much only on certain spec race cars. Be a total waste of money on a street car but would rock your world on a drag strip.

I can see a good market for them in some circles. IF they can keep the price reasonable that is.

For the price, hard to beat the IRP shifter.

This is actually the first of my modern MT cars that I never felt the need for a short shifter on. The trow is pretty good at stock. My old Talon was like shifting a semi and it was the very first change I made when I got the car.

Only a very specific group is going to get any sort of value out of this sequential adapter but in the right car and driving conditions it would be sweet.

I enjoyed the gearbox on my test drive. Felt like I just had to nudge it into gear, compared to my 626.
