Clearly the GT86 gets an additional 0.3 MPG form the stripe.

The EPA assumes your going to be high revving quick shifting twisty road driver. If you drive a lot on the free way you can get 30mpg easily, I used to commute a ton and I was averaging 33 mpg. Then I got another job closer to where I live and started driving more aggressively admittedly and it's at 26mpg.

Not sure how the EPA got 24 though they must have been at redline quite often and taking some hard corners and steep hills. I imaging you gotta really push it to average 24

Using the MPG calculator on the dash, I once got about 34.8 mpg for a while doing mostly highway commute. The stretch of road I traveled has a lot of up/down hills. So I can imagine getting 36 or more on flatter road. Heck, if driving at 60 mpg on flat highway, i think 38 mpg is possible.

LOL... I had the same thought... My MPG screen stays at 19-20mpg. I like seeing the red flashing light and hearing the rev buzzer go off. It's like a arcade game... How many times can I hit the light and buzzer and shift before the ignition kill steps in...

Believe it or not, when we drive long distance (500+ miles) at steady interstate speed I sometimes get 42 mpg if there is no rain and temps are 50-70 outside. That's by the trip computer and my calculation between fill ups are easily 40 MPG in that situation.

the mpg at 82mph was above 35mpg. That is insane. That is not an efficient speed, but it is for this car. at 70 I hit 38 solid with small hills throughout the run. I do worse at 55. 55mph it is best to be in 5th gear until mid 60's i noticed. Low revving does not save gas in this car, needs to be above 3000's. The car is sick how well it handles 82mph, smooth as glass and has a lot of power there on downshift, yet gets better gas mileage than economy cars.
