Is tune required or will it be?

I know a tune is obviously recommended but I just bought a 2017 silver BRZ premium on July 10th 2017

I have the extended warranty up to 100,000 miles
I really do not want to do anything to this car that would screw with the warranty other than basic stuff
I added an Invidia N1 Cat-Back exhaust and a Corsa cold air intake. I also did buy a K&N intake as well. Also wondering which intake I should use. but to stay on topic I was wondering is a tune required if I get uel headers and a front pipe?

Side note I still have the stock intake and exhaust as well so I can revert this car completely back to stock when it's time to bring it back in

If you have an aftermarket intake, your maf scaling probably could use some adjustment as well.

Return both your intakes, (wtf did you buy two for?) buy an intake tube and dry flow panel filter.

Install panel filter and intake tube, install catback. You won't need a tune for it, but you will benefit from it. You will make more power. Knock out the cat of the stock header at the same time, and you can run the OFT stage 2 EL tune.

Jazzle is right, except I prefer uel headers. Just for noise.

I just love it when people parrot the same line with no proof.

Keep the K&N Intake kit. http://dsportmag.com/the-tech/scion-...ing-ecutek/10/ Thre's proof, not bullshit.

Ok the 2017 has a better intake setup than the 2016 (which was pretty good anyway. 2017 has better pannel filter and better intake tube.

Pretty well not worth changing on a 2017

Re the DSsport intake tests the bit you want to look at is here

"The highest flowing intake system may deliver the highest power or, perhaps, even the lowest horsepower on the dyno. Why? A growing number of factory intake systems are extremely well designed for flow. Aftermarket intake systems are generally reaping the largest power gains by changing the “tune.” The tune or engine calibration is affected by the signal from the mass air meter. The majority of aftermarket intake systems manipulate the mass air sensor signal to values that persuade the ECU to run more timing and a leaner air-fuel mixture. The result is more power. Soon, we’ll show this when our SuperFlow SF-750 flow bench arrives."

The way most intakes produce power on stock cars is by leaning out the AFR as they effectively alter the MAF calibration causing a leaner mix in open loop operation (higher rpm). most stock tunes run way rich mid/upper rpm .

So intakes can produce some power on stock tuned cars if the intake is designed correctly.

now if your going to tune the car then the tuner can just correct the AFR correctly with proper MAF scaling and adjustment of the AFR tables.

Now the 2017 manuals with red manifold have completely different ecu fueling logic (and timing) to the older cars and they run the majority of the time in closed loop unlike the previous models. So the trick of the intake leaning out the stock tune is unlikely to work on the 2017 manuals. as the ecu in closed loop will just compensate and afr will remain unchanged.

Guys have tuned 2017 with boltons and they prety well make same power as old cars. They start with more power on the 2017 as its got better intake and intake manifold and better header, but in the end its basicly same old motor so with bolt on bits you end up with same power as old car with boltons.

If your not going to tune the 2017 just put the catback on it and call it a day. The intake even untuned is unlike to do anything for you other than noise and may even cause you some problems.
If you paid for extended warantee just put the catback on it and enjoy the car

If you are going to tune it get a set of headers and leave the intake stock, call it a day.

see here for 2013 to 2017 comparison its also worth noting that the 2013 was oft tuned and the 2017 was ecutek custom tuned and ended up with same power

Yeah I didn't see 2017. There aren't many intake options yet.

Parroting lol.

Steve99 knows what he's talking about. Intakes make power by improving flow that the factory intake lacks, (not a problem on these cars until you're boosted and have very different air volume requirements,) or by leaning out the stock maps, (after tuning this point is absolutely moot.)
