Question Seiko x Toyota 86 watch???

Been hunting for a nice chrono wristwatch and came across an ebay ad for a Seiko x Toyota 86 collab. I've seen the Citizen x gt86 but I can't seem to find any information on this watch. Anyone own one or seen anything like this before?

Seiko 86 watch were made limited... correction, VERY LIMITED PRODUCTION. They made it for one of 86 preview event & within that limited people got that. Only person I know has it is Moto-San from Club4AG... but again, he has a lot of limited 86 collar parts, so not that surprised.

Unless Seiko made more, we're talking bout ultra rare 86 watch

The Citizen looks like a Wal-Mart watch compared to the Seiko. Is that rubber on the side? Would love to own one of those Seikos, handsome watch.

This Seiko looks like some cheap Tissot that they sell at the mall jewelry shops if you ask me. This is coming from a guy with three Seiko watches as daily beaters.

What does that make the silver Citizen then? Lol

I like that other one with black band, looks sporty and not super cheap.

Thanks for the information! That would explain the $499 price tag.

Well I figure they are not gonna put a 86 logo onto something like a Citizen Chronomaster that's for sure.

I've got this one (not my pic), the 7T92 movement (same as the OP's 86) should be a solid long lasting Seiko Quartz watch that can be serviced by just about anyone (maybe the factory as well? idk didn't look too much into it) and kept in working condition for many years.

Standard Seiko quartz chronos are in the $100-$250+ range depending on demand and availability, maybe lower priced if you look for used, unless it's discontinued and demand remains. I think I paid about $150 for mine, looks like it's been discontinued so a few sellers trying to get $300-$400 and one used on ebay with a $130 buy-it-now price and a starting bid of $100.

Since getting that I've 'downgraded' to the SNK809, I like the smaller watch and automatic (mechanical, spring powered) movement, but I think I'll keep the chrono around because timing stuff is nifty. Used the Tachymeter on a long boring road trip, got decent at being accurate with it. Oh and the chronograph goes up to 12 hours so you can pretend to be a old timey rally driver doing the mille miglia or gumball or whatever.

Don't think of it as an investment, it's quartz and a mass produced movement with niche branding, buy it if you like it and be happy with it. fwiw at something like 43mm case diameter on mine it's a bit on the big and flashy side, worth considering before you spend the money whether or not you'll enjoy wearing it.

Looks like a pretty standard chrono to me, color and style choice can make or break it like most watches and the OP's picture is certainly not flattering. I don't think I would ever buy it (even at a much lower price than OP is looking at) but it's not terrible. Better picture below, I like it much better than either Citizen (digital display on a chrono? and the other looks like a plastic sportwatch? why bother if you're not going to pretend to be an old school rally driver or fighter pilot?) but that Orient looks pretty nice for what it is.

Same movement, more standard styles:

Short German video showing the movement in motion so if you do buy it this is how it will operate.

tl;dr buy it if you like it, seems like it would truly be a bit exclusive which is nice, but imho you can get a more attractive piece at a lower price with the exact same movement (guts).

The problem with the Orient is that it is a large watch, 48mm diameter. The bezel, which I removed, was also hideous and impeded crown manipulation.

Orient has made a couple BRZ GT300 watches:

If I wasvto get a Seiko it would be the SARX029... thing of beauty!

This is my Seiko chronograph of choice (recently reissued from the Alien movie):

But of course I would much prefer this if I have the money:

At least your Orient doesn't have that huge power reserve meter for once.
