NOVA DD

Hey guys I just started a simple build we've all seen before but I'm just logging this here for me and my dad and most of my advice has come from you guys here. I'll be keeping my track built Miata as a classic once 2019 hits and use it for autocross and occasionally throughout spring and summer for work or shirt trips. So taken what I've learned from some past builds and guys who have tried many things themselves first so we don't have to make those mistakes, I'll be doing a simple naturally aspirated dd. White 2015 frs with trd intake and trd sway bars is my base.

The aim is to the have it just slightly more responsive throttle. A suspension that is a bit firmer but that still has plenty of shock travel that won't get easily unsettled on the pothole and cracks and bridges as the car will be driven around Virginia back roads through the foot hills. A big factor with this car will also be keeping it quiet in the cabin for road trips and winter months. Keeping the drone and general noise down while trying to slightly increase power is the probably going to be easy now day with hemholtz Chambers and resonators being widely used now days.

I've done a few small things after driving her for two weeks but I want to get a better feel for the car before I do any big suspension changes. Also got to drive one with the trd springs and one with Tien adjustable dampers and compared with mine that has the trd sway bars only and stock springs. Driving all three back to back has me leaning towards something maybe just slightly stiffer than trd but not by much so I think the rce yellows I've read so much about will be perfect for spirited back road driving on rougher roads. Besides the track Miata has the coilovers this car is going to be much more functional. One thing I've been reading about with theses cars was the benefits of a front struts tower bar as well. Coming from the Miata community with our cars having dual wishbones up front these parts don't really do squat unless it's an insanely beefy 3point bar that would still be hardly noticable. However the mounting of the front struts is different here and I went with a Grimm speed front struts bar and the turn in response was immediately improved and noticable on every turn. I'll get pics up here soon now that parts are going on.

And yes my Miata does have said insanely beefy 3 point bar and all it did was make the cowl a little less shaky at speeds over 75mph. No real difference at all where the frs gets a nice sharp turn in from just a simple single bar. It's nice to already see this chassis respond so we'll to a small mod.
