Load dump protection
Hi all,
I've been getting very deep with a fully standalone Nexus 7 build with the tablet being disassembled battery removal etc. Ive been looking at trying to tap into a constant power source and step down voltage using a buck converter but have read about load dump with spikes on upto 100v potentially which is something I need to consider. I was just wondering if OEMs control load dump earlier within the circuitry so that I don't need to account for it when tapping in, Also does anyone have any experience with some form of diode product that's capable of stabilising voltage during engine cranking by tapping to constant power source in the instance of reduced accessory voltage? As I'm typing this I imagine that isn't possible since battery voltage is dropping during cranking also so unless there's a second battery this probably won't work. Would be good to see your guys' thoughts however I promise I'll post a thread on my system after carbon fiber work on dash is done |
