What's up wondries!?!?
Long time lurker on these forums, never bothered posting ( well, I have, just never started a thread) I just wanted to know if anybody else is having a hard time getting this car, whether its the dealer not having the one you want, or your salesperson taking you for a ride.

If you really want the car a certain way, you need to pre-order it and get on a list somewhere. Or else you'll likely be getting your car with all kinds of crappy add-ons you definitely don't want to pay for.
I've been on a wait list for 6 weeks but at least I know I'm getting my car exactly the way I want it. |

I went to wondries Toyota in Alhambra, I was told that if I left a deposit that day, (march 30) I would have my car by next week on Tuesday (June 5) he even showed me his computer. So I believed him, left the deposit and that was that. Since that day I have not received one follow up call letting me know what's going on. I had to call corporate to complain, this was 2 weeks ago. He than called me back to ask me why I had called them to complain, and that the car was still not in, but would be here very soon. I'm honestly just tired of running around in circles, I could have bought a car from a different dealership already...but obviously I wouldn't get the color I want.

I'm right there with you. I put a deposit down a while ago and I feel this guys just screwing me around, keeping me on the hook to eventually get a sale when I could have taken a day to drive an hour or two away to drive one off the lot somewhere else.

I recommend hunting. Check online inventory for all Subaru dealers (if you are open to either car) within 100, 150, 2400 miles or whatever you are comfortable travelling. It seems like they all have accurate online inventory systems including any inbound vehicles.
Then use Scion's site to locate all scion dealers within the same distance and open up all their websites. Check inventory for those that have it posted. Looks like these won't display inbound cars. Call the ones that don't have online new inventory and ask. Guaranteed you'll find some vehicles out there not spoken for. With Scion the pricing is easy but with Subaru the price online may not reflect various additional items they put on the cars. This is what I did and I found a Raven FR-S with the exact options I wanted 150 miles away. I was trying to work out a deal on it but my local dealer gave me much more for my trade and when I saw the Firestorm Fr-S they were expecting in person I was sold. I have checked several dealers, auto trader, and have had other reps call me back to let me know what they had in. While I don't mind waiting, I just feel like this guy ( sales person) said what he had to say to get me to leave a deposit. the only reason why I don't get my deposit back is because I don't wanna have another credit inquiry at another dealership and I fear having to wait even longer lol. I just want to buy this car, am I asking too much from this dealer?

You are absolutely capable of shopping for financing elsewhere in a car purchase. I visited two banks to inquire about their rates and researched Toyota's rates. I decided that Toyota's rates were very competitive but the dealership can add to the interest rates their financing sources provide to pad their profits so I was wary of this because it had happened to me before. You DO NOT have to fill out a credit app to put down a deposit because you are not required to finance with them. Don't do it. In my case I did but I made them assure me they would not run the app without my approval. If I decided to finance with them I wanted them to be ready to go. Be very protective and DO NOT let anyone run your credit until the deal is finalized and you're ready to drive away in your new car. They may push you to do this because they want to know if they should bother putting time into talking to you. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

The thing is, and as far as I know, the car is sold to me...once they get it in of course. He ran my credit, we already figured the monthly payments, but he has yet to deliver. And on top of that, he hasn't followed up once since I last saw him (March 30) I've been the one telling them to keep me in the loop.

Did you sign a sales agreement? They'll run your credit and work up numbers for you until the cows come home but unless you've signed a sales agreement, of which you should have a copy, the car is not sold to you.
In addition, don't sign one of these unless the vehicle is present and you could drive it home right then if you wanted. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Toyota finance is very competitive against the banks and is how I will buy my car.
When I went for a test drive they only had a Red, auto GT (rather than the Orange, Manual GTS I ended up ordering), but got the general idea. The only thing that would have stopped me getting one is the fact that I am 6'6" and needed to fit inside ![]() I now have a 6 month wait

Honestly, I don't even know wtf I signed now. You've got me thinking, I'll have to have him email me exactly what it is I signed. Like I said, to my understanding I purchased that vehicle, all we're waiting for is for the car to come in to finalize the sale.

I went over to Keyes Toyota in Van Nuys on 6/3/2012 and we went through all the financing terms. They said that the car should come in ~3-4weeks. Signed a few papers and that was the end of that. The car came in 7/2/2012, got a call from the salesperson the same day, walked in, signed a few more papers to finalize the deal and drove away with the car in an hour. Btw, I couldn't deal w/ the salesperson at Northridge. They told me that they had an FR-S and that I can come in. 5 minutes later, they tell me that the car is sold and that they didn't know when the next shipment was going to come. Also, I keep getting spam emails and they keep asking if I have any friends/family that would like to go through them. For whatever reason, the unsubscribe button on the email didn't work so they got a part of my 2 cents on their stupid spam emails and how I couldn't unsubscribe. |

Hey Jake, sorry to hear that. I'm actually a fleet assistant at wondries (just started), and will definitely take a look into that. I'll talk to my manager about your situation first thing tomorrow. The FR-S is really hot, and people snatch it as quick as possible. To my concern now, we don't take deposits due to situations like this. However, I will talk to my manager tomorrow about this.

Yes I went through all the financing and monthly payment terms, the same way as you. It's just, I don't get why he convinced me to leave a deposit for a car that he or the dealer ship themselves weren't going to get. I DON'T MIND HAVING TO WAIT ( but in a way I do ) but at least tell me what the hell is going on, why is my car taking longer than excepted to arrive....I just want to buy the car and that's that.
