First wash tips?

Hi! I just bought a used 2013 FRS and love it. However, I'm having new owner anxiety about washing it. Any tips on my first wash? I rent an apartment so washing at home is a problem. Should I go to one of those DIY car washes or something? Any particular things to watch out for or tools etc. I should use? Thanks!

Hello frsinsd and welcome to FR-S ownership and ...... The Forum.....

If I were in your situation, I would stop at a hardware store and purchase a 2 gal bucket. Then stop at your local auto store and buy some car washing soap and a bundle of microfiber towels, plus one of those adsorbent woven towels.

Back in the day, we used a chamois skin to dry off a car ....... oh, never mind ....

Now, go to one of those put-a-quarter-in-every 30 second U do it car washes.

Dial up "rinse" and fill your bucket with water ...... then wet down the car. Add soap to the bucket of water and wash. Rinse off and dry the car.

See how easy that was .........

OR, you can venture over to the forum's car care section and read up on 100 ways to wash a car and 50 different products to use .........

Hello and congratulations on your FRS. Based on your situation I would recommend you get the following and take it with you to a pay DIY wash center.

5 gallon wash bucket with gamma seal top
Girt Guard for bucket.
Wash mitt.
Some type of microfiber based drying towel, your choice lots of good ones out there.
Good car wash.
Spray wax for after washing.

I would also consider bringing a small wash bucket you can purchase at any auto parts
stores for the wheels along with the following:

Some type of wheel cleaner, again your choice.
A brush that will get back in the barrels. Wheel woolies are good.
A cheap wash mitt dedicated to the wheels, might want to make it black to keep it separate.
A tire brush to clean the tires, Tuff shine tire brush is cheap and works well.

And for when your done a cheap microfiber to dry the wheels and some tire gel to dress the tires.

I will be glad to provide specific products and detail I just wanted to give you the basics for now and you can feel tree to ask for more information if you would like, I detail for a hobby. Good luck!

The best tip I can give you is that the car is not made of sugar. Exposure to sun, weather and road hazards will take more of a toll on the paint that any form of wash ever will. Relax, and use any of the methods said since your car will not fall apart by washing it "wrong".

Yeah, water, car soap, dry.
Either at home or at a car wash station.
Just use some nice thick microfiber towels.
Don't worry. Birds will shit on it the next day.
