Anything with airbags, you would wanna disconnect your battery first. Some say wait 10 minutes, some say press on the brake 5 times to get the remaining power out before you can safely work on airbag areas. I believe there are just clips there so you can pry it out quite easily? Might need a flat-head.

I have a dash cam but did not remove the side pillar cladding to hide the wire. I just tucked it behind the plastic (on the right side, where the rubber meets the plastic. I would probably not fool around with that piece, hoping that you have successfully disabled the airbag.

I also just nudged a dash cam USB cable behind the trim. In these cars the edges of the plastic trim in lots of places seems thin and flexible enough to lift easily and stuff wires behind it.

Yep, just pull from the top and it'll come away.
Two things - 1) Don't try and remove the safety straps, just let the panel hang from these 2) If the plastic trim retainer 2/3rds of the way down gets left in the metal of the B-pillar, you must pry this out and slot back into the plastic trim otherwise you'll never re-seat the trim properly. |
