VHT Tails gone wrong

I decided to smoke the stock tails cause I'm cheap but prefer self modding so anyways let's get right to it.

Materials used:
VHT Night Shade
Krylon Gloss Clear Coat
Meguiars Ultimate Compound
Turtle Wax Polish

In short I cleaned the tails then wet sanded with 1000 grit. Applied 4 coats of VHT 15 mins apart of each other then after 4th coat I wet sanded with 1500 grit. 5 coats of Clear Coat then wet sanded with 2000 grit till smooth. Meguiars compound then polished. Still ended up with matte look. It looked glossy before I sanded the clear coat. Should I just apply a couple more coats of clear and avoid wet sanding it this time?

Single part clear coat without an activator/hardener doesn't come out so great. It comes out as semi-gloss at best. Also 3k or 3500 sand paper would also help a little bit.

Spray 2k max is a good 2 part clear coat in a can.
