Fog lights on without headlights?

I recently saw a picture of an BRZ in the Middle East with the fog lights running without the headlights being on. I asked him and he stated the fog lights turn on no matter what setting the head lights are at. I would like to be able to turn on my fogs with just the parking lights on and not the headlights. I went through pages of this modification string and didn't find anything. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Wouldn't it be the same as running day-time running lights, but hooked onto the fogs?

No, because the drl is always on. I just want to be able to turn the fogs on and off when I want. Also, the "parking light" boomerangs are always on with headlights and I don't always want the fogs on...

Oh! Misread, sorry.
I'm sure it's easy to do, someone did it for me with my Honda (I know right) where one click turns on just the Halos on my headlights.
Hope someone replies to this for ya soon.

Normal human beings don't use fog lights without the headlights The fact that you saw it on a Middle East car just confirms this statement. Unfortunately such a phenomenon has laready spreaded outside that area. But please don't bring this desease to the US! Otherwise the autoworld doesn't have any hope.

I know a few people have their fog lights tapped into their side markers or parking lights - so the fog lights will be on whenever the side markers, dash, and parking lights are on. A few people have purchased the fog light bezel and switch (which you should be able to order from Toyota if you have the parts number, and I believe a few vendors here on the forum sell something similar as well) and have redone the wiring so that they can have a separate button that controls whether the fog lights are on or off.

Here are a few threads I visited when I was considering this myself, before I just decided to get the DD kit and wire it to the headlights as per the instructions -

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52984
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67016

Hope that helps you narrow down your search a bit - GL if you're set on doing this. I definitely wanted to, but decided it wasn't worth the hassle since I didn't really know what I was doing and I live in a city where the cops might make a stink about driving around with them on anyway.

Thank you both for a couple really good ideas. I already have the stock fog lights so I am not looking to buy another pair. I am going to run this by my local performance shop and see if they could adjust the wiring for me. I assume there is some switch that tells the system the headlights are on so the fog lights can work. Hopefully we can find it and put a jumper on it or something.

Unfortunately many kids just think its cool to do this, regardless of the fact that it's illegal, pointless, and counter-productive. On top of that, many throw in HID bulbs with stupid color temps or put yellow film over them

luckily it's not illegal to run your fog lights at any time in virginia..

§ 46.2-1020. Other permissible lights.

Any motor vehicle may be equipped with fog lights, not more than two of which can be illuminated at any time, one or two auxiliary driving lights if so equipped by the manufacturer, two daytime running lights, two side lights of not more than six candlepower, an interior light or lights of not more than 15 candlepower each, and signal lights.

because sometimes in the morning it can be foggy and its nice to turn on the fog lights.

Yep, it's not illegal. As a matter of fact, I have nice yellow bulbs with no glass tint and the stock headlight set up causes serious reflection in the early morning hours. The fogs alone would be very helpful... It's just funny how many idiots run their mouth and assume they know everything. Then you look at their set up and it's all ebay knockoff crap. Just makes me laugh...

I got amber fog overlays just cause amber LED bulbs aren't available for our fog lights anymore...but I would like to run them during the day along with the stock DRL. Just another added safety feature so drivers can see me better during the day. It probably won't make a difference but many cars (like the Toyota sequoia) have them and I like the look.

My foglight set up is run through the ignition wire. So anytime I turn my key to accessories on position the fogs will have power. And I bought the fog light button that goes next to the trunk release.

All you have to do is find the wire that tells when the fog lights are allowed to come on and solder it to the ignition wire. I have the Winjet fog kit so I don't know where any wires are from the OEM fogs.
