Corner Weight Question

I am wishing to find out the weight distribution of my car.
I do not want spring height adjustments to influence the corner weight reading. How can I measure the "true" corner weights?

Take it to a race shop.

Height adjustment will affect the corner weights. That's the point.

I am contemplating buying some made to measure dampers. The software the manufacture uses requests corner weights. How can I supply accurate corner weights when the the height adjustment of my existing dampers affects the weights?

There is a post of a stock car corner weighted but if you are paying premium $ I'd imagine that data isn't going to help you too much.

Let me look for it.

What did they recommend for supplying the weights?

here is the post http://www.vorshlag.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8145

Thank you but you are right; it won't help me.
Sorry but I don't understand your question "What did they recommend for supplying the weights?"

Did you tell them your situation with aftermarket suspension? What do they recommend. If you had your car already corner weighted and ride height set how you like can't you just use those weights?

I have not had my car corner weighted before. The dampers that are on my car now are off the shelf items. That is, all the coil overs of that model are the same. Received them, had them fitted, off I go. Awesome value for money.

The dampers I am thinking of are made to measure. I could, if I the experience, know how and money specify the damping curve I wanted.Their through shaft dampers start at $12k AUD a set. And no, through shaft dampers are not on the shopping list. As it is my proposed budget only allows for low speed compression damping adjustment which is why the more information I can supply the more accurately the dampers can be tailored for me/my car. I would be relying their expertise to fill in the blanks.

Just a question but why not just use MCA's. They will customise things to your needs and as we've seen with all our track guys. Nobody uses anything else. Things like KW's, Teins, Ohlins etc all get removed off peoples cars to be replaced with them. In World Time Attack I think it was something like 5 out of the top 6 cars had MCA's. In the Bathurst Enduro race recently, most of the top end of the field used them. Why reinvent the wheel when the hard work has been done for you. Josh is out with his 86 at the track every few weeks testing his suspension and custom suspension stuff to help make the 86 track performance better, including some work towards helping put power down better on corner exits. Also he'll be entering it into WTAC this year alongside the Hammerhead S13. (different classes of course) Should be a hell of a car.

Just wondering really.

Weigh the car on corner scales.

Average the fronts. Report left front and right front the same.

Average the rears. Report left rear and right rear the same.

I can perform the averages for you if you paypal me $42.

Can't agree more with this. You've no idea how lucky you are to live in Australia when it comes to track suspension!
I recently moved from Aus to USA for three years and have a BRZ over here. It is currently a daily driver and weekend track car, and almost all of the hardware going on it will come home with me in three years time for the purchase of another 86/BRZ, which will be weekends/track only.

If I was in Australia my coilover choice would be MCA all the way. The performance of the Blues and Reds at their pricepoint is simply off the charts. As I am over here and my car is still a daily, I have gone for the cheaper and softer option of STs, with the intent of selling them when I leave and putting MCA Reds on my car when I get home.

MCA supplies the control suspension parts for the Pro-Am 86 racecar series, which I believe is a tailored MCA Red package costing less than $3k. I've read this has had a tonne of development put into it from Josh and none other than Neil Bates. Bates has done a 1.08.7 around Wakefield in the 178kw/1170kg prototype race car on the MCAs and non R-compound Dunlop Direzza Z2s (Treadwear 200). It'd be even quicker on RE-71Rs!
That is a stupidly fast time for a car of that power/weight/cost and on those tyres.
"I'll have what he's having!"

I know I'm taking this too seriously, but this is bad, left side will always weigh more than right and when getting detailed ignoring that is giving up performance.

Yep $2800 AUD. Thats what we are running and thats what Josh runs in his car every 2-3 weeks at Lakeside or Queensland Raceway. At Lakeside hes into the 59s which is getting bloody quick for a car that basically has Pads, Tyres, Suspension and an E85 tune with headers.

And mind you the S13 Hammerhead runs Red suspension. They don't even use custom Gold series stuff. For around that 3k mark you can literally buy the suspension used on a Proper Pro Time attack car. There wouldn't be many suspension companies that not only track test their suspension before release, but continue development. In Australia there really is no reason to buy anything else. I do wish though that the top track guys in the USA could try them out. I'd be very interested to hear what they think of them if they could try them.

CSG start being a US MCA dealer. I'd love to see Australian products being sold worldwide.

I'm using MCAs Reds atm.
I had AST 5200 but I didn't like the lack of local support. I want to keep it
local.
