UEL W/ Perrin 2.5" CBE Resonated Help

Hey Guys,

I'm currently running a UEL w/ Perrin 2.5" Resonated CBE. I just installed the CBE yesterday but I'm noticing very loud/annoying booms when its decelerating down to 2k RPM. Also, starting off from a stop once it reaches 2k RPM becomes very bassy (droney?) but anything above 2k RPM sounds awesome. I was wondering if you guys knew a way to get rid of that noise boomy/drone? Should I just got with another catback thats quieter?

Thanks all.

I just installed my JDL UEL, been running the 2.5" Perrin resonated for 1300 miles and haven't experienced what you are talking about. I have booms but they aren't loud and annoying. The Perrin overall is a very deep sounding CBE; it's one of those exhausts you feel more than you hear. Give the exhaust about 200-500 miles to get the inside coated with carbon, and it definitely tones itself down.

It does get very bass-y around 1800rpm. That's just the nature of the beast. Not sure about the booms you're talking about on decel, though.

I guess the booms are the dron-yness of it. Not really good at describing sounds lol

Only thing I can suggest is check all the v band clamps while the car is running for leaks (COLD START so you don't burn your hand feeling for air rushing out). Other than that, wait the break in period. The perrin resonated is one of the best catbacks for this car with very little drone compared to some of the others on the market (cough*invidia n1*cough)

I have the 3.0" Resonated Perrin CBE, it was very loud and boomy when I first installed it. Overtime, the noise lessened. Still very bassy around 2k.
