Nearly made it a year.

2016 with currently 4,000 miles.

Neighbor decided to start pulling up to the curb in front of his house early.
Then had the nerve to insinuate I was to blame for being parked 15 inches from curb.
He just HAD to bring out a measuring tape to show me as if it mattered.

He thought the legal limit was 12 inches but it's actually 18.

The next day it turned from 15 inches to 23 inches. ha

Some people. /eyeroll

Had this exact same damage done to mine, except I was parked.

Cost was about $3k with new OEM parts, new clear bra.

This won't be a popular response, and it does suck to get damage; I wouldn't wish it on anyone, BUT (you knew that was coming right?) you aren't exactly making a good argument when you say, "Ha ha, I was three inches away from being illegal so joke's on him!"

Make no mistake, it shouldn't matter if you are parked sideways across two lanes of traffic, he shouldn't have run into you. Likewise, even if you were too far out he's still at fault since he was moving and you were parked. But if you were parked a little better you might not have had to even deal with it.

I hope it can be fixed cleanly for you.

Ha. Nearly identical!
Yeah mine was parked in front of my house.

They quoted about $3,000 for me as well with all OEM parts.

Can you tell any paint difference?

I mean I was parked legally and not even pushing it so not sure I agree with your sentiment. My tires were partially in the little 'shoulder' in front of the curb and off of the road asphalt.

But yeah I don't think it would have mattered if I was parked directly in the middle of the street. I was just honestly surprised when he - a 50+ year old working man - started trying to deflect instead of just take responsibility.

He turned my tires (my steering wheel did a near 360) so I'm just hoping no complications from that. :<

Maybe I misunderstood, you said you were 15" from the curb but the limit is 18"? That's what I meant.

It's 18" from the curb in Texas too which seems super far away. I was always taught you shouldn't be more than a foot away. I know in our neighborhood, the street is wide enough for someone to be parked, and two cars to pass opposite one another alongside the parked car, but when people park that far out it's a serious PITA. I know I'd personally worry about damage to my mirrors more than anything else parked that far away from the curb.

But man, that really sucks no matter what.

Wow... Does it really matter where he was parked? His neighbor hit a stationary object. I'm pretty sure unless his car magically materialized in the street it's not Devante's fault AT ALL.

Pretty sure I read the whole post, even read it more than once. It still comes across like your insinuating his more than legal parking job caused the problem.

Yeah, OP if you would have parked in the garage none of this would have happened. For shame!

Well, that's a shame, Devante ........

If you were parked along the curb in a street, in order for the other car to hit the right front of your car, it would have had to have been moving on the "wrong" (ref flow of traffic) side of the street ... right .. ??

Or, did the neighbor's car back into your car .. ??
