Passenger Dash Trim Interchangeable Between Model Years? - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

I bought a BeatSonic QBP13 phone mount for my 2017 BRZ. Popped off the passenger side dash trim. The construction of the panel is slightly different from previous model years? There are ridges on the interior of the dash panel that prevent the BeatSonic phone mount from working.

I could dremel the ridges out on the panel, but I don't want to screw it up. It's a $90 part.

Does anyone know if the panels from previous years will fit on a 2017?

I saw that FT86SpeedFactory has an OEM black passenger trim piece for $38. Maybe that will work?

I believe that the 17s have have one piece pad? If so then it won't work. Might just be the Canadian ones though. Geeez I was no help at all here.

It's 2 pieces. BeatSonic said the mount should fit if I trim the plastic piece on the back shown in the attached photo & diagram.

Update: For anyone with a 2017 BRZ Limited who is considering the BeatSonic phone mount, you'll need to do some dremeling to make it fit. The left edge that the phone mount goes around was too tall (far right edge under the wrap in the image above). After trimming it down, the mount works great though.

I popped off the built in mount base and replaced it with a Scosche magic mount: http://amzn.to/2wCqHCA

Really happy with how it turned out.

Canadian cars have the one piece dash, American cars do not. I actually bought a Canadian dash panel already so I can change the HU and it fits right into the American car.
