The sad part is the age...such a joyful life was ahead of him.
People need to know that it doesn't matter who's faster and think about life in general.

Good, no innocent bystander involved, and one of them won't have the opportunity to try again.

video said he was ejected out of the car.. no seatbelt. from the looks of car he probably would have survived if he had his seatbelt on.

a girl i know from college, her boyfriend at the time died when he was 18 street racing in his s2000 and wrapped himself around a tree. too young.

Are we looking at the same crash? I see a car that's literally torn in half

Two cars, one looks survivable, the other not so much.. not sure if the 86 driver passed or the other guy but I'd guess the other guy based on the pics... based on the story I'd guess the 86 driver.

No seatbelt? His problem, and how he lost control of the car?

As in he could not stay in control because he was out of the seat? I would doubt it. If the car was behaving that badly, it was already too late. Could the belt have helped him avoid the crash? Who knows. Had he been wearing his SB, we probably could have asked him. Dude was an idiot.

That's not two cars-- that's an FR-S that's been torn in half from hitting something very solid, travelling ass-first at a high speed. Not sure a seat belt would have made any difference in this one; there's only so much energy a human body can take before stuff starts ripping apart internally.

A vital part of surviving even something that violent is staying in the seat in the car. I'm willing to bet would have survived had he stayed in the car. Not saying he would not have been AFU, but we won't ever know. Wonder what the BAC will be.

ETA: There was a pic here a year(?) ago of a car in Europe that went of a mountain, IIRC. Car was SMASHED but the occupants survived. Regardless, no belt is just as stupid as no MC helmet, and I will get a chuckle at your (not you) expense when you get deaded because of it.

Possibly so. I worked in emergency rooms for 15 years as a respiratory therapist, it was routine to have police officers in the ER interviewing patients after an accident, and they'd always ask about seat belt use. It never ceased to amaze me how many people still believed that it was better to be "thrown clear of the wreckage" rather than be belted into their cars- as if they'd be ejected and land on a big fat pile of mattresses and pillows that somehow happened to be laying along the roadside.

The truth was that in a rollover, many occupants DID end up being ejected out the window- right up to their waist. There generally wasn't any point in bringing them to the ER, as there wasn't much of anything left above the belt that was worth saving.

Wear your seat belt, people.

Watched it again on something bigger than my phone. You are correct. Looked like wo different cars on my phone.

I feel for his friends and family but don't feel sorry for him personally.
