2017 Driven first impressions

This was a premium, since my primary goal is combining autox and dd in one. Just amazing, all what I expected, strong, responsive and gorgeous.
2nd gear goes uo to 57 mph, not too bad eith revised gear ratio;3rd to 80 mph.

Did not buy it yet , the offered nothing for my trade and did not have the blue one I wanted.

Loved the rear spoiler and the front.

Quick Key translation, around dead center steering feels is less vague, Car doesn't move around after taking a turn like the old one. more smooth power...pretty much things we all know?... he said hand break feels different but maybe just him. >__>

what do you mean strong? it only has 5hp more, im sure that translate even less power at the wheel.

Does the new one have sequential tails? I think it looks like they could be, but I haven't seen a vid of the turn signal on.

The peak is only 5hp, but the torque curve is much, much better than the zenki model

No, they are not sequential from the factory.

Is it really substantially better? The only curve I saw still had the infamous dip. Also, the reviews I've read don't seem to mention any big improvement in regards to acceleration.

This is wrong. The torque dip is still there. Functionally the 2017 is no different that the models before it. Sure the extra 5HP is different, but by the time that gets to the wheels it's maybe 2. Basically it's a wash.

yes I have, the 5 HP and torque improvement might not be too noticeable but those combined with better gear ratio made the car feel quicker. I loved it.

they were selling this one at $26220 , this particular Premium one had a red intake manifold , look really nice.. this is the link but the one shown in the pic is a limited look at the foglights (not present on the Premium)

It's got a more aggressive gear in the rear. It's going to have slightly better acceleration.

Part of the problem is we're comparing engine HP.
I think once we get a stock zenki and a stock kouki model on the same dyno, you'll be able to see the wheel HP difference.

Is it? Let's make a wager on it.

The 2017 cars dyno more to the wheels. Functionally speaking, the 2017 has better factory headers, better tune, better intake, and a more aggressive final drive.

Peak HP may be the same but total area under the curve will be much, much better.

Let's make a wager on it. $50 Starbucks card?

I wasn't talking about engine hp I was talking about torque. I think the refresh will put down better numbers, but I would be surprised if it felt substantial faster to drive.

I can't wait to test drive one though.
