True. maybe you rubbed it while it was still dirty? If you forget to wash that part then dry it you could scratch it?

It's hard to tell what it might be from the image; it sort of looks like residue from a paper towel.

Has it rained recently where you live? Sometimes I'll experience blotches of what look like discoloration on my car from oil and road gunk if I drive on wet roads where it hasn't rained in awhile previously.

I know in the case above, washing the car hasn't always been enough to remove that - and it might be more conspicuous if that was the case and you then waxed the area.

You could try a safe adhesive remover in case it was caused by a bit of sap, insect-splats, or other gunk that dried on there.

One time I had a really obvious smudge of something on the back of my driver-side mirror (sort of a ghosted effect); quick detailer didn't remove it, nor did the regular car soap I use.

I was in a Photography class at the time, and I had the random idea to try using a bit of the solution for cleaning my camera lens as I know that was excellent at removing any grease or oil. I added a few drops of it onto the MF towel that came with the bottle, and to my surprise the "stain" came right off.

Note that my mirror back had a clear bra on it - I still have no idea if it was at all safe to do what I did. I figured for use on expensive camera lenses it shouldn't be too dangerous, but then again those are glass. Here is the exact product I had - http://i.imgur.com/cMZotl1.jpg

Again, it was probably not the safest idea, but I was frustrated and desperate after nothing that I had worked, so try it at your own risk if you go down that route - I state it more as an anecdote to get idea circulating as to what options you might have to try to correct the issue.

Are you the only person that details your car, or do you know a professional who's opinion you might be able to get? Best of luck finding a fix for it.

It is probably a build up of wax residue. It looks to be in the valleys in between the textured bumps. I would say that even though you was your car often, it isn't quite getting all the wax out of those valleys and it turns white over time.

Im the only person that washes and details my car.

And yes i has rain since yesterday, but i know that my car has been on the rain before and never had this issue.

Like i said i tried to clean it with a detailer spray but that discolor is still there. I noticed that is not noticeable when its wet, as soon as i dry it, it comes back

As Vampyre said: whatever it is, it's embedded into the valleys of the textured surface and will be hard to get out unless you use a really sharp point to scrape it out, but then you risk scratching it. I'd not worry about it, as it will naturally fade over time... it's just plastic, after all

This is what i was thinking. I used california carnauba paste wax two weeks ago and wax the entire car.

But, wont this wax residue come off with a spray detailer? or do i need to use something else...

Paste wax has a reputation for leaving white stains on dark plastic trim. You could try rubbing alcohol.

I meant "rubbing alcohol" as in over-the-counter isopropyl alchohol, which does not react with plastics as far as I know. It's the go-to solution for getting rid of wax, though.
