To resurface rotors or not?
I overheated my pads at a trackday, have a pulsating pedal that hasn’t gone away with street driving or trying to bed the brakes again, and I have new track pads to go on. Brake system is currently stock performance package brembos and replacement rotors are $400 each so hesitant to just replace the rotors.
Do I just put on the new pads and bed them? Do I spend the time and money to have the rotors resurfaced? Other ideas? |

If it is confirmed whether these PP Brembos are standard STi sized, something like this would be a good replacement.
https://www.oakos.com/CEN-125-47019.htm or https://www.oakos.com/CEN-121-47019.htm Centric blanks in 5x100 STi dimensions for ~100 or 180 a set. They also carry rears. Edit: this thread indicates that standard STi rotors should be compatible http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122138 |

Before I had them turned, I thought maybe it was just uneven transfer. I tried re-bedding them : no help. Bought garnet sand paper and spent a bunch of time sanding the rotors to remove any deposits : no help. Had them turned : pulsation was gone. This was stock brakes on my '13 and Carbotech XP10 pads. Before this experience I pretty much thought pulsation was always uneven transfer and very unlikely a warped rotor. Now - as mentioned above - might have been cementite but very superficial, or slight warping... YMMV. |

It's a lot less expensive to try machining first.
