Factory LED DRL Blink off when braking
If come to a medium to quick stop I notice that my LED Daytime running lights will blink off then back on. Anyone have a Scion 10 series, Monogram or Release series notice this?
I see it when parking in the garage at work before shifting into reverse and when stopping at a stoplight (reflection from the car in front of me) I searched online and in the forum but did not see anything. |

I believe the DRL turn off when the car is not in gear (for manual) and when car is in P (for auto), and they are off when the e-brake is pulled.

correct, however this is happening when the car is in gear and braking, seems to happen right when the car comes to a complete stop, then it blinks off then back on. It is an automatic.

I have a manual and this happens to me when I keep it in gear right before I stop completely. It usually happens when rpm dips below 400ish. Pay attention to your rpm when it happens.

I've seen it happen to mine every now and then. Less so now that I had the ECU updated to the latest rev to fix the idle dip issue.
I don't think its anything to be concerned with, just a matter of the voltage dipping a little low when the alternator current drops off and the draw starts coming from the battery again. Its not as noticeable in other cars without LED DRLs because the voltage drop is very brief. Normal lights would just slightly dim whereas these LEDs flicker. |

No, they're on anytime you're out of Park (on an auto) or the e-brake is down (on a manual),and of course the car is on. If they turned off when you're not in gear they'd be flashing all the time. The flashing is from the idle going too low (also happens if you almost stall it on take off) and it's well known quirk of the BRZ. Nice of your guys to share the pain now too

This happens in my car too. But mines related to the car coasting down to stop where the RPM drops too low and about to cut out engine before bouncing back up to regular rpm...

Thanks, that's what's happening on mine, it's when I notice the rpm drop. Good to know nothing to worry about.

Same thing happens on my BRZ (automatic) - when i come to a stop, the RPMs dip and DRLs flicker. Took it to the dealership and of course they couldn't replicate it even with my specific description of when it happens...so they didn't do anything about it. Is the ECU flash an official fix for this that I could possibly refer them to?

To OP: Seems to be normal; if I let the RPMs drop too low (right before the engine stalls), the DRLs on my manual BRZ flicker off as well.
You'll need to upload an image to a hosting site like Imgur before you can link it. |

This is normal. Subaru cheaped out on a couple of capacitors for those sensitive LED lights...
