Thanks to Touge Factory
I just spoke with Touge Factory (Jamie?) to order their brake duct kit. He was very helpful and answered all of my questions. Better yet, they only charged me $10 to ship the kit. That's less than what another major vendor here charges to ship a small envelope with a couple shifter springs a shorter distance. Kudos to Touge Factory!

I also just ordered for the first time from these guys. Not sure who I talked to but he was very cool. Didn't act like he knew everything but was very helpful. Got me the part in less than 2 days (I'm not far away). I'll use them again for sure!

I just finished finalizing an order with TF today. Now bear with me, because this may end up being a long winded post with some tangents mixed in!
So, it all started a few days ago when I decided I wanted to swap out my nameless dual exit axle back for something of the single exit persuasion. That led to me spending most of my Sunday night researching possible options, then Monday night turning that research into a few informed decisions. I spoke with one other shop, and they didn't want to sell me anything but the Tomei (Had one, liked it, but it was a bit more than I wanted to spend, and I'll touch on that later) and I looked at what basically every other webstore had in stock or could get in stock. So basically I had my choices laid out as such: Megan Racing Drift Spec: I had Megan LCAs and didn't have any problem with them, and I personally thought the build quality was great, however, the sound was so-so from this exhaust and it looked very "normal", nothing too special about it, but it was going to be my fallback exhaust if I couldn't find something else I liked HKS Hi-Power Single Exit: It sounds great, the price is right (especially since everywhere seems to have slashed prices on the HKS stuff), but I just couldn't get over how weird the tip looks and that's ultimately what led me to not picking it. FT86 SF Single Exit: Love the sound, price is good, don't like the tip and I had a bad experience with FT86SF due to their choice in shipping company and I didn't want to deal with that again Tomei 60S: I previously had the 60R, and it was SO. FREAKING. NICE. I wanted to splurge on this one, but ultimately, I couldn't justify 991 USD, then the conversion to CAD. And it really killed me knowing the quality of parts that Tomei produces, not only in craftsmanship, but looks, sound, just everything really. And then there were all the cool JDM ones made out of what must be Unobtanium for the 2000+ price they're asking which I really wanted, but didn't want to be dropping close to 3k on an exhaust. Which brings us to the winner: the TF Modular SPORT Catback When I stumbled upon that, I knew that I had to have it. So, I spent the later part of Monday night, and Tuesday afternoon doing even more research into the TF catback system. The sound, so good. The price, even better. So, I went through the process in the online store to place an order. Unfortunately, the online store doesn't process international orders. So immediately, I left a query on the website, and then PM'd @Touge Factory on here, Monday night. Nick got back to me mid-morning the next day via email and gave me the lowdown, and John(maybe? Can't remember off the top of my head) got back to me on here shortly after Nick did. I proceeded along with Nick to finish up this order. Everything was going awesome until Nick told me shipping was going to be $175 to Canada. I almost said screw it right there, and then I thought I might just get it shipped to my aunt who lives in Michigan, and would be coming up next week for a visit, but due to some things that aren't worth mentioning, I took what I perceived as a bit of a kick in the nuts on the shipping cost (but more on that later). I emailed nick back and said "Let's do it, when can I pay?". That's when another devastating blow was delivered. He only had the Race catback in stock, and the Sport version would take around a month to be made. I wanted the exhaust ASAP, as I only have a few days to enjoy my car per month due to working on the road, the rest of the time, I leave it with my parents so it can get driven a few times a week. Right then, I threw in the towel, and said "Sorry, I'm only interested in the muffled version". After I talked with a friend, he convinced me to go through with the purchase. I emailed Nick back shortly and told him that I would still be interested in purchasing the exhaust. I sent the payment that night, and waited to hear back from Nick. He replied, and shortly after, he let me know the exhaust was being prepped for shipping. Naturally, I had more questions, ranging from trivial to future purchases. On the trivial side, I wanted some stickers to which he replied with "take your pick of what you want, and I'll do my best to throw them in with the exhaust", awesome! Future purchases being that I asked Nick about the price of just the muffled axleback portion (since this is a modular exhaust), and he let me know it was $250. I almost highfived myself at that point. Knowing that I could get a catback exhaust, with 2 axleback options for $850, which blows every single competitor out of the water (with the exception of Megan). So now onto the shipping, which I mentioned earlier. While it was 175 bucks for shipping, Nick let me know it should be at my house monday or Tuesday. That jives perfectly for me, since I'll be home on wednesday next week. Now after knowing that, it isn't so much a kick in the balls. Maybe when the time comes for me to order the axle back portion, I'll see if there's some sort of other shipping method that won't be so expensive, but given the timeline I gave to Nick, he made it work. So, Nick, if you're reading this, thanks once again, you were awesome to deal with and I will be bringing future business to you! I will update this thread once I'm home with unboxing, installation and installed pictures, along with a video to see the sound. |
