Chris Harris - Do you need anything more than a BMW 320d?

Not your typical Chris Harris video, a nice break from all the skids.

Let's see, this is about a $48,000 "ordinary car". Yea, it should be spectacular for that price, not just ordinary.

That was a boring review. If he isn't hooning a sports car it's just not a great Chris Harris review.

To be fair, a BMW over there can be bought at an affordable price relative to other new cars with the 2 and 3 series in the U.K. starting out cheaper than a GT86 or BRZ.

The car he tested is at ₤30k vs the GT86 ~₤25k, a $7.8k USD difference, like comparing an FR-S to well... an entry level 2 or 3 series, optioned up WRX or other mid-sized sedan by any major manufacturer, we just don't get the economical packages from BMW (or Merc) over here.

And it claims ~57 mpg (U.S.) in the 'efficient' trim.

I'm getting the GT86 is listed as ₤22495 ($35,414 by today's exchange rate) on the Toyota.co.uk site and taking his word that the BMW is 30K ($47,230) the difference is a bit more but I do understand your point.

Still its not exactly quite as low end as he makes it sound, which makes me just stop watching right there even before I found out how much the BMW costs.

Also, A lot of the things we get standard on lower lines are options with luxury brands. Ain't nobody got time for that, you can end up adding like 20k
