Canadians with CEL and SL Issues
So anybody else up here having issues?
If so whats your dealer doing for you? Haven't heard much about how dealers in Canada are dealing with this issue. I noticed alot people in the KW-Tri-City are in here (I work in Guelph), anybody in that area, had this bad luck. I got mine at the dealer, they are waiting to hear back from the Subaru Techline... |

Mine's been on and off, so you can be a good guinea pig for me personally.
The car runs perfectly fine, and while I may experience a bit of power loss when the CEL and SL are on, I don't get the idle dip. I contemplated asking this question in a thread also, so I'm curious as to the feedback. Please keep us posted Rohan. |

No updates, as of today. Trying to get a hold of someone to ask where this issue sits with Subaru Canda.
The lack of info sucks. |

There were 2 FRS that came in with engine lights on. Both had the same code and both were made in July and both were the same colour. Haven't seen any other FRS' come in with engine lights. Probably a manufacturing problem for that month. Parts are on backorder right now.

Hit it at 2200 here in Edmonton. Waiting on ECU/Sprocket replacement. We'll see how they deal with the fix if it works or not, but I'm not impressed with dealer or Scion Canada support in comparison to the results USA reps are getting.

Still waiting on Subaru Canada for an answer.
Tech seems to think, it could be an ECU issue. But wait continues for the official answer. |

I have opened a complaint with Subaru canada through their website, to let Subaru canada know that i'm not pleased about not having my car.
---------------------------------------------- The first thing as we have to investigate the condition before any further escalation, which we are presently looking into. I will be your main contact through Subaru Canada, however, the best contact would be Mr. ***, Service Manager at *** Subaru, as they would be able to provide you with further updates. *** | Bilingual Consumer Support Representative, Customer Care/Service à la clientèle 1-800-894-4212 | Subaru Canada, Inc. | www.subaru.ca So far dealership is doing best they can, and provide me with updates when they have them, and also will call even if they don't hear anything. The tech doing initial troubleshooting was great, even offered to talk to any Toyota techs if they required any insight on the boxer engine. |

Can't say I am happy about my experience. Some of what I have gone through the last couple weeks:
I get my CEL/SL and park it. Next morning I take it to the shop directly. First they didn't want to even give me a loaner, said none were available for the next few days when I dropped my car off. Then, later that day, after they reproduced the rough idle problem they pretty much told me that I shouldn't be driving it and *poof* a Yaris was available for the 4-6 week parts delivery period. There were 2 more courtesy vehicles in the lot when I grabbed mine at closing. Liars. Of course they were more than happy to repeat 'We will do our best to get you a better loaner by this time next week'. Heard that multiple times. Empty words. Two weeks later, still in the POS Yaris and they best they came back to me today after me having to call them yet again was that the dealer was willing to get me an economy car (read Yaris equivalent KIA). Phoned Toyota rep today and they had already left for the day. Toyota/Scion rep is supposed to call me tomorrow and I can't wait to hear the next set of empty words. What I wouldn't give to at least be in a Camry right now like those lucky guys stateside. Also, when I dropped the car off I told the service rep that they should park it inside or under some cover: The body is aluminum unlike all the other cars they sell. Service rep told me they had some options and would do their best. 4 days later there was a hail storm and my car was just sitting in their parking lot. Luckily the hail missed the dealership but I am not impressed. When I talk to the Scion rep I will do the following at a minimum: 1) Insist I get extended warranty. Gratis. 2) If the first repair fails insist for full refund (including the paint protection and undercoat). Thing that gets me is that I would always say good things about Toyota to everyone I knew... right now I just feel let down. They definitely do their best to say they'll 'do their best' and I can't say the results so far even come close to anyone's best. I wonder how long it'll be after I get my car back for the joy to start again. |

My CEL came on yesterday, called them today and going to be dropping the car off tonight. I need a car for Friday, so I'll be expecting a loaner if I can't have my baby back for Thursday afternoon.

Honestly I don't want my car sitting somewhere while local mechanics scratch their heads replacing anything they can think of. I'll wait until an official solution is found and disseminated to all of the dealerships.
My TC light went off today, CEL remains on. So far this was the progression: TC and CEL on after 20km. TC and CEL off at about 150km. TC and CEL back on at about 300km. TC off, CEL remains on today at about 600km. The car is not in "limp home mode" and is still driving perfectly normal. Methinks from my hunch that this is simply an ECU issue (hopefully) and a relatively simple fix once the techs figure it out. |
