The first guy in line at Mike Scarff backed out, I got his car!

I got a call from my salesman saying that the first guy in line at my dealer had backed out, and would I like to take a look at his car? Yes, I in fact would! It's a GBS BRZ, not the color I ordered (SWP), but he got a Limited 6MT and I have been kicking myself for a few weeks now for ordering a Premium instead of a Limited, so that was a plus.

I took a look at the color, decided I could live with it, and bought the car yesterday. I got up this morning at 5am to drive it around for a couple hours on the curvy country roads near my house. I'm very happy with it so far. It feels quite zippy at low revs compared to where I came from (modified 2003 Golf TDI, 1986 Saab SPG), and I really like the proximity locking and keyless start. The color is growing on me, and all my buddies seem to think it looks great. Pics attached as taken at 5:30 am this morning.

That was my second choice if I hadn't gone with SWP.

I love my SWP though. Haven't seen a blue one here in alaska yet.

congrats on the purchase! Unless you're getting paid ditch the dealer advertising on the back of the car

I really want to like GBS, but I can't. On the other hand, I too am kicking myself for going Premium; either way nice catch!

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I've been driving the car off and on all day, I just wish the roads had been drier so that I could really push the limits (well, my limits) in the corners.

Speaking of my limits, this car has thrown them into sharp relief. I was scooting around a curvy back country road this morning, feeling like I was pushing reasonably hard, when I suddenly realized that I hadn't turned hard enough into a particular blind turn. I had a moment of panic as I realized that I was going to have to add steering input in the middle of what felt like a hard turn already near the edge of the car's handling limits on a wet road. As carefully as possible I added a few more degrees of wheel, and instead of the expected tire noise and over/understeer, the car simply tucked into the turn harder and came out the other side without drama, just like that. Boom. I may need to spend some money on some driving lessons and/or track time with this thing. It's clearly better than I am by quite a bit.

Tainen, I'd really like to attend that Drift Office meet on the 16th, but I'm going to be out of state on business starting on the 14th until the end of the month. I'll keep an eye on the NW forum for future get togethers, thanks for pointing it out to me.
