From the front, the Lexus LFA looks like a bigger version of an FR-S

Not sure if this observation merits its own thread but I just noticed that, from the front only, the Lexus LFA looks like a bigger version of an FR-S (not so much the BRZ because its grill is a bit different). From the back they look completely different though.

Which makes sense because I think they were designed by the same Toyota studio in California iirc.

Other than both being black, having door mounted mirrors, rwd coupe, and similar bumper grill opening, they are not that similar. And lfa isnt much bigger. Its mostly because the V10 needs more room.

I agree. Anyone know if it will have port and direct inject and a high pressure fuel pump like us complete with crickets?

The 86 twins look like the LFA would be more appropriate... Considering the final design for the LFA was shown in 2009 and production ENDED in 2012.

The LFA had a direct injected 72* angled Yamaha V10. No crickets can be heard over the shear blissful cry of the engine.

I actually don't think I'd mind the DAMD kit had they not tried so hard. Make the emblem smaller (like the stock GT86/BRZ, remove the hood scoop line since it isn't correct, and reduce the roll on the topside of the center rad opening and it would look pretty sharp.

You are correct, LFA engine code is 1LR-GUE notice how the S is absent

Damn, I wasn't aware Lexus stopped making LFA's. That's kind of strange considering all the hype that lead up to its release.

they made a few, and lost money on each one sold apparantly, From the things that I have read, it was more of an engineering excersize than something aimed at making money

I thought it was supposed to be Lexus's halo car. Kind of like what the NSX was to Acura. Whatever, strange decision by Toyota to only produce the car for 2 years.

The LF-A was never intended to have a large production run. There's some videos on youtube detailing the process of creating the carbon fiber monocoque that supports the majority of the car, and it's fascinating. It's also expensive as hell.

Someone else touched on Toyota losing money on each LF-A, and not only that; the lease program they set up for the vehicles also failed to make money back, despite the outrageous cost of leasing one vs owning one. I believe Toyota came close to breaking even on development costs, without turning much of a profit.

Engineering exercise indeed.

I agree, there is a very slight resemblance on the front fascia. That being said the LFA's F1-like engine note is nothing short of amazing. I think if I heard it in person I would pass out from pure joy.

The LFA IMHO is an epic fail. They were asking for over 300K for each model. That's 458, Aventadore, 650S ranges. The styling is questionable as is the underpowered V10 compared to the other exotics out there. They spent all that R&D on the platform. Why not use it for future cars?

FT-1 maybe?

Yeah, my bad port injection...

Damd front end still doesn't look half bad. Even better once you remove the line that is the lfa's hood scoop. I've considered rocking the front... but damD it is expensive to import. 2K for a bumper.

I've had the pleasure of seeing one in person and got to hear her purr... I didn't pass out, but my pants were definitely a bit tighter afterwards.
