Airbag Module Center Dash

I'm trying to install a single din head unit in the lower portion of the dash but to get the angle that I want I need to relocate the airbag module back a few inches. It's already bolted in in the back I could just move it to that location. All the leads seem like they will reach no issue and unless there's some type of grounding or something like that involved with its location I see no reason why this wouldn't work.

Does anybody have any information on this?

Can you post some pictures?

I have seen pictures here recently of an install where the bottom pocket is, just in front of the shifter. Would't work for me as it would interfere with loading and ejecting a CD, but unless there is some sort of sensor built into the module requiring it be located in that certain spot and in that certain position, and as long as you make sure it's properly grounded and the plug connectors reach and plug in properly, I see no reason that it can't work.

There's plenty of room behind where it's mounted and the leads seem plenty long to reach back a few more inches

I have never done this personally but I would think it will be fine to move it to the further back bolts. I have seen single DIN receivers installed in the lower location before without issue.

It can be installed without modification I have no doubt. The issue is the angle. The angle is close to flush but slightly tilted downward. The single din I'm using has a screen and a camera feature I'm using for a front lip clearance cam.

i sure don't like fussing with airbag stuff. too explosive. i'd leave it and find another alternative.

I feel like it would be fine to move, but I know that I probably shouldn't...

I may see if I can figure out a way to anchor it a little further out instead.

a long time ago, i was told that brain box in other vehicles housed the accelerometer to know when to deploy airbags, which is why they're all mounted near the centerpoint of the vehicle. so moving it would skew the datapoints, which could result in a number of unsatisfactory ways of airbag deployment or non-deployment.
