Make your own HKS intake duct....kinda

So after installing heat-reflective tape on the front of the oil pan, putting my NST alternator/waterpump pulley on, and other little things this weekend (aside from installing a new crank pulley and bleeding brakes on a spec-miata car) I decided to introduce my intake duct to my friend the craftsman tablesaw.

I didn't want to remove the front bumper (still havent yet and I've read horry stories about re-fitting it) so I did some ghetto work. I removed all the top bolts and the hold down plate from the front bumper, then pulled it out of the way to access the TWO mounting bolts for the stock intake duct.

Once those are off, you are able to very forcefully yank the intake duct out of the car. I ripped off the resonators on it, and cut a gigantic hole in the front of it.

I have no idea if it will work or not, but hey- anything to get more air to the Injen intake has to be beneficial. Putting it back was much easier than taking it out due to the smaller size of it.

As you can see its not quite the HKS intake duct, but it serves the same purpose. Anyways- it was free, took 10 minutes of my life away, invisible once the bumper is bolted back, so no harm done. If anything the intake honking is louder now, lol
