Which oil filter to pair with mobil 1 extended performance engine oil?

I am going to use the Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0w-20 oil (those in the golden jugs). It says on the jugs that it is good for 15k miles. But I am not sure whether it is too risky to stretch oci to 15k. Maybe 12k?

But even with 12k, if I use this oil and oem filter, should i replace the filter once? Or, I should get the matching m1 extended performance filter from the get-go? Thanks for your ideas.

I only run Cusco oil filters, however you will need to change it at least once if you go that long.

I just use the OEM filters and I change oil every 5k just because that's what I'm used to.

I use the purolator Classic that you find at Walmart. Cheap decent filters. I change it every 3k miles. Also read somewhere that the standard Mobil 1 Advanced Full Synthetic offers the better protection over the Advanced Economy and Extended Performance.

I use the FRAM Ultra Synthetic Oil Filter, XG9688 with Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0W-20 Full Synthetic Motor Oil. This filter is supposed to be good up to 15K miles with this oil but I change it and the oil at 10K.

OEM and change it halfway through whatever you decide you change interval (I'm thinking 15k since that what you mentioned). The FA20 recommended oil change interval is 7500 miles, therefore the filter should be good for at least that interval. That being said, 7500 miles has never sat well with me. I usually like to go around 5000 miles before my oil changed. Could be lack of understanding of engines and the wear they experience....

When to change your your oil and filter is a highly debated topic.
From my FR-S Owner's and Maintenance manuals:

Normal driving: Change oil and filter every 7,500 miles or seven and a half months, whichever comes first.

Severe driving: Change oil and filter every every 3,750 or 3 ¾ months, whichever comes first.

If one or more of the severe operating conditions outlined below better describes how you typically operate your vehicle, you will need to perform some maintenance services more often, follow the severe recommendations.
> Repeated short distance driving.
> Driving on rough and/or muddy roads.
> Driving in high humidity areas or in mountainous areas.
> Driving in dusty conditions.
> Driving in extremely cold weather.
> Driving in areas where road salts or other corrosive materials are used.
> Living in coastal areas.
NOTE: You should perform these additional maintenance services if you drive primarily under any of the severe operating conditions indicated. If you drive only occasionally under these conditions, it is not necessary to perform the additional services.

Oil grade 0w-20: (I'm assuming they are referring to conventional oil not synthetic)
ILSAC GF-4
ILSAC GF-4 is similar to the API SM service category, but it requires an additional sequence VIB Fuel Economy Test (ASTM D6837).
ILSAC GF-5
Introduced in October 2010 for 2011 and older vehicles, designed to provide improved high temperature deposit protection for pistons and turbochargers, more stringent sludge control, improved fuel economy, enhanced emission control system compatibility, seal compatibility, and protection of engines operating on ethanol-containing fuels up to E85.

API classification SM or SN with the words “ENERGY CONSERVING” or “RESOURCE CONSERVING”

With a synthetic oil, IMO, you can extend the Normal driving change intervals to at least 10,000 miles.

I use the Mobil 1 Extended Performance filter. I put Mobil 1 EP oil in my car after the break-in period ended in January. It just made sense to combine the two.

EDIT: Typo: Mobil 1 Extended Performance filter with Amsoil Signature Series oil. I was sleepy.
