Best Launch and Shift RPM

Granted knowing that this will be different for ever car depending on tires and mods but im bored and slacking at work so im curious what everyones opinion is.

Best launch point for speed with stock tires and with more grippy tires for a clean takeoff? And then aslo shift RPM?

Too many variables as you'd be feathering the throttle to limit wheelspin depending on the surface.

Rev it up and slip the clutch a little, you want to be right on the drink of breaking traction. Even the same car in different weather is tough to launch.

Always launch..... with power levels over 9000!!!! Hehe. But really though, I hve no idea. Depends how you want to launch. If you wanna burn out the clutch then just launch super high and let it ride, but really you want to do somewhat of a release for the launch and then an ease off as you go. Kind of tough to explain I guess... Sorry. Hope that helps!

You can feel the OEM tires squirm a little before the traction control light comes on. It doesn't even take that high of an RPM, maybe 4K or so. It depends on how you work the clutch.

The last couple of times I've launched to get moving quickly I did it around 1500 rpm. While sitting still I pulled the ebrake up and slightly let the clutch out to tighten to take the slop out then disengaged the clutch. Bring the engine up to 1500 rpm and use the ebrake to hold still. Drop the ebrake at the same time as you let the clutch out. It results in a quick take off.

There is no definitive "shift point". The engine will make different amounts of horsepower depending on the RPM. So shift accordingly. That's the whole point of driving a manual. You're in control of shift points.

Since our torque curves are relatively flat (lest the freakin dip) throughout the rev range, the horsepower curve is somewhat linear with a peak occurring near redline. Compare that to the Focus ST which makes peak torque quite low in the rev range (2krpm) and then tapers down. The result is peak power at about 4.5krpm.

That low end power would be so fun in our cars. You wouldn't have to rev the nuts off it and downshift two gears to get it moving. Really makes me want a low range turbo.

On the street, I try around 3k. My brz is stock, and i get a slight tire chirp and take off well. Anything lower doesnt launch quickly enough, and anything higher spins the wheels too much. 70-80 degrees and a few minutes driving before hand

My car with 255 Direzza Z11s and stock power launches best around 3000rpm.
