Best Car Cover for 24/7 Outdoors in SoCal Desert Sun?
Hi everybody,
What are the best car covers out there and what do you recommend? My car will be outdoors, 24/7, under the hot hot SoCal desert sun. Always parked outside, in the driveway or the curb/street or outdoors at work. The sun will be the biggest concern for me, as it rarely rains and never snows in SoCal; mainly, defending against clearcoat failure damage from the sun (which my current truck (only 9 years old too) has too much of. It's only 9-10 years old, but the roof and hood are so damaged from the sun that it has big 2 foot by 2 foot circles and blobs of missing and damaged clearcoat ![]() I really want to take care of my new 86 when I get it and protect it against the same issue I am currently having now with my truck and messed up clearcoat and paint. Will a car cover protect my 86 from clearcoat damage and this hot desert sun?

Thanks. I am reading the Covercraft website now. I also like how it's machine washable. Nice cover!
I would very much buy yours. But I haven't bought my 86 yet. Planning to buy an 86 car soon, hopefully fall or winter

I have been reading about the Covercraft covers and found out that the most popular ones (that are also home machine washable) are the WeatherShield and the Ultra'Tect models. I think I will buy one of those in the future.
I noticed the WeatherShield is a tick better in most of the boxes in the comparison chart compared to the Ultratect. But is the Ultratect better for sun protection? Which of those 2, is ultimately better primarily for sun and UV protection? |

There is a company in NJ, Auto Chic, that makes nice covers. There is a guy in south florida that has one on his Porsche Carrera RC (I think) and it fits like a glove and I know he's had it on there for around 4-5 years. I think I have a picture of it, but haven't located it yet. Will post it if I find it.
