Next CDC Autox ($10 Discount on the 2nd Slot) Saturday July 26th at Winchester

SATurday July 26th Autocross

James Wood High School in Winchester, VA is the location of the next CDC autocross on Saturday July 26th.

Registration and tech inspection will be at 8:00 and will promptly close at 8:45 to try to accommodate the full field, while still giving 6 runs. You must be DONE by 8:45. So if you arrive at 8:00 you won't have a problem. Don't arrive at the last minute.

The event fee for the autocross is $30 for members and $40 for non-members at this event.

On-line Reservation System

Member reservations (or participants that will join the club upon showing up) for any events can be made at any time at www.capitaldrivingclub.com. Open reservations for non-members for this event begin Friday July 18th.

$10 Discount on Second Slot

To help increase interested in this event, we are offering the following special.

For anyone paying for a second slot, the second slot will be $10 off. So if you are a member the second slot for a member will only be $20. If the second slot is for a non-member the cost will be $30 (rather than $40).

The second slot can be used the same driver (e.g. they would drive in two heats) or for a guest.

If you sign up for a second slot, just type "Second Slot" in the Notes Section. Otherwise, we may think you mistakenly submitted duplicate reservations.

Remember, to make a second slot, MAKE A SECOND RESERVATION (if the second slot is for a different person, type "Second slot for (type the name of the first slot person)".

-Several people used the second slot for a guest (some that never autocrossed with CDC)
-Many participants used the second slot to get 12 runs
-Some used the second slot to be a point autocross in the 6 morning runs (since only the first 6 counted for points) then treated the afternoon as a TNT by trading cars with other two slot participants

This offer is only extended for this event at James Wood HS on Saturday July 26th, 2014. We like giving this discount but can't promise it at all events.

New Members

We will be accepting new members at this event. If you plan to join the club at this event, you may make a reservation at this time by doing the following:

1. Use "0" as the member number (a permanent number will be assigned to you after you join and you will get a temporary number for this event)
2. TYPE "I will be joining the club at this event" in the NOTES section when making you reservation.

The annual membership is $30 and is good for 12 months from the date you join.

If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact me.

Anyone have a seat open in an frs/brz this Sat? I might not be able to get my frs out there, and there are other cars i can drive, but I wanted to see if i had any other options.

If i make it there with my frs, I'll buy a beer for anyone who beats it.

I will be at this one, but I'll be co-driving my friend Greg's Miata.

Just remember that if you won't be attending the event, make sure you e-mail me at capitaldriving@yahoo.com to allow others to take your spot and for us to get an accurate head count.

CDC does have a policy that if you make a reservation and are a "no-show" we will place you in the last heat at the next event that you do attend. I haven't been a stickler but I noticed that in recent events, it is starting to get bad again. In addition, most of the participants want to be placed in earlier heats, making the early heats crowded and the last heat empty.

We will probably start keeping a list of no-shows (that did not notify us) starting with this event.

Good to know, but I never said I wasn't showing up. I'm just not sure I can or want to drive my FRS way out there. Do I get in trouble if I registered my FRS but will drive some other car?

No. Changing cars isn't a problem. A couple of years ago, we use to have a large number of people (over 20) that would make a reservation but not show. It even got to the point that one person bragged that they always made a reservation (since it doesn't cost anything) EVEN when he planned to attend a different event! He figure that he would just use CDC as a back-up.

That cause a bunch of participants to get make because they couldn't make a reservation AND at the event, we had available spots. After that we, started a policy that if you can't make it, just let us know. If you don't let us know and you don't show, we will place you in the last heat the next time you attend. Just the threat pretty much fixed the problem.

Over time, we stopped monitoring the people that were no-shows (it's a pain and no of us want to be jerks). However, the number of no-shows is slowly creeping up again.

So the long answer is "no" no one is in trouble. We want our events to be as friendly as possible and realize that things come up (the major reason why we have a pay at the event policy). We just want an accurate head count to allow other participants to attend. Also most participants don't want to be in the last heat. So here's one way, where can fill up the last heat without having to randomly select participants to go in the last heat (non-members go in the last heats but we also need to populate them with experienced people to work the course).
