Thinking of a road trip to Central America, I'm moving there. It looks like both countries i'm looking at sell GT 86's. So not so worried once I get there.

I've never use octane additives before. If I can't fine good fuel will the additives work?

So with a tank full of fuel how much additive is needed.

Two oz per gallon according to their website. Whole bunch of words on that site, and very little info.

I am using 1 quart per 20 gallons. That mix will yield you 2 points higher octane.

Torco Accellerator. It's been independently tested over and over and consistently dynos what it promises. I've used it for months now in my FR-S and swear by it. Do a few internet searches for it. Worth every penny.

This. Higher octanes just burn slower, or at a higher compression. There is no power change.

This again. The higher octane makes it easier for the engine/ECU to avoid preignition (knock, ping, detonation). As a result of the higher stability, it allows engine builders and tuners to be more aggressive, which is what makes power.

The basic idea is to run the lowest octane you can without experiencing knock. Our cars need minimum 91 to even be close to doing so. Lower elevations, higher ambient temps, higher engine temps, and higher rpm, are all factors that generally need higher octane to ward off knock.
