Drivers Glass Replaced.

So my drivers window had some etching deep enough to warrant Subaru to replace the glass, some of the innards and to retint my window for me. I am very pleased with the service from my dealership. Chatted with the tech and apparently it's not a pleasant bit of work.

God bless em!

Good deal. I noticed your signature and wanted to add a relevant weight lifting quote.

The Iron is the best antidepressant I have ever found. There is no better way to fight weakness than with strength. Once the mind and body have been awakened to their true potential, it’s impossible to turn back.

The Iron never lies to you. You can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, get told that you’re a god or a total bastard. The Iron will always kick you the real deal. The Iron is the great reference point, the all-knowing perspective giver. Always there like a beacon in the pitch black.

I have found the Iron to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But two hundred pounds is always two hundred pounds.

My passenger window is just starting to do this I think. There are 2, one inch wide rectangles up the length of the window that don't clean off anymore. It also makes a loud chirp or screech sound when it gets to the top sometimes.

My driver side window has this as well, passenger side is getting there. Do you know what warranty this was covered under? I'm already passed the 36k

Did it on my own car. Replaced the driverside glass, along with all the stabilizers in both doors. Not easy but not impossible. It's covered under 3/36 I believe.

What parts need to be replaced to fix this issue so it doesn't cause damage? No issues on mine yet, but I rarely roll the window down.

How widespread is this?

Hi all,
I should have searched better as I would've found this thread which talks briefly on the same issue we are finding in Australia.

Here in South Aust we have noticed on both BRZ's and 86's that some are experiencing an issue with windows squeaking after being wet. This can go on for days after the car gets wet. This isn't anything that has happened from day one it takes usually a few months to start to happen.

We have our first case of rust inside the drivers door near where the motor sits and the window seals are perishing so Toyota are now replacing all parts. There are a number of others with seals being replaced too.

Another common sign is two distinct lines around an inch in width which some are saying is starting to etch the glass now.
All years are affected 2012 to 2014 all models.

This has prompted me to now find out if its just localised to us or do others have the same issue? (er yes they do)

Does anyone know how widespread this is?

Does anyone know if Toyota / Scion and Subaru acknowledge there is a problem and what are they doing about it?

Below is a pic in which I have outlined 2 distinct lines which are in the same place with all models. (at the time of this pic my car had 4 days of dry weather.)

I get these lines on my windows and screech. Screech is not consistent but often enough to be noticeable and I am always ready to grit my teeth when I press the window down button.

I'm waiting for my windows to freeze this winter so I can get most of the parts replaced under warranty this winter.

But I might chicken out since I'm scared of the dealer replacing all those components.

I had my window replaced about a month ago, same reason. There's a few threads about this, so the issue definitely isn't rare. It's related to the window freezing TSB from this past winter.

I had this issue as well. My dealer initially said some seal was too tight causing the marks, then a few months later there were large grooves in the window and it would squeak whenever it rained. Subaru replaced the window but the marks still show up as watermarks when wet.
