Wheels or No Wheels?
I guess the title should actually be "wheels or stock wheels." Anyone been borderline on changing the stock wheels end up taking the plunge on custom wheels and end up regretting it? Maybe my bigger concern is "having" to lower it too? Let me know if you wish you kept the stock wheels and height (sorry if this thread crosses over topics). Thanks!

I bought aftermarket wheels and and tested it out on stock suspension before lowering my car and it looked really funny. That's just my opinion.

Any wheel on stock height will look a bit weird due to the gap. However... the BRZ is quite low already, so I don't know about lowering it much more, especially if you have 4 seasons.
Since you're out in NV, some good springs would be a nice addition to wheels. |

I had a set of 18x9 with tires that i put on the car to test fit. I didn't even use them because they looked funny on the car at stock ride height. I didn't want to spend another $1500 on coilovers and LCA's to make them look right so I just decided to sell the rims and tires. Lowering springs won't do either. At least I didn't lose money on the wheels which was the main thing.
Wheels just won't cut it if you don't lower the vehicle.

You don't need a set of $1K+ coilovers to lower your car. Get a set of Eibach Pros or RCE Yellows and some Subaru crash bolts for front camber. That'll lower you about 3/4" for about $300. Plus an alignment.
I'm going to stick with the OEM wheels. I just got some wheel spacers from Corner3Garage and I'll have my wheels powdercoated glossy bronze. That gets me the look I want for about $500 total. I just can't justify buying an entirely new set of wheels if I don't need to. And I was having a hard time finding the look I wanted in the sizes and offsets I wanted without spending significant amounts of money. |
