91 and 93 octane maps - OFT related

Some time back I thought I read that shiv@vishnu had mentioned that there will be 91 and 93 octane maps. The latest 1.59 files only have one file and nothing to show that there are different 91 and 93 maps.

Shiv would be great if you can clarify.

Shiv hasn't released the 93 octane tunes yet

Just to clarify, our tunes are mapped for 91-93oct. Just like the factory tune. What this means that it's more likely that us 91oct folks will see knock correction from time to time. While 93oct folks will be knock correction free for the most part. At least that is how it is in theory. In the upcoming release of 91 and 93 oct maps (with v1.60 OTS map release), what you will be presented with are two maps. One slightly less aggressive and one slightly more aggressive. Don't expect there to be a substantial power difference between them. Maybe 2-3whp up top

Bummer. So the guy whose virtual dyno shows a gain of 11 horsepower from 2 degrees more timing added to your base map is not getting a good reflection of reality from his tests then? I should have known that graph was too good to be accurate.

Nope sorry, I do not believe that is accurate. I think much of that is from natural run to run variances from using a road dyno. But things have surprised me in the past so I don't like to say anything definitively.

Looking forward to the new releases. Keep up the great work!!!

Question though. If not knock limited (i.e using higher octane fuel) would our cars make more power with an increase in timing?

Yes indeed. That is where much of the E85 gains come from

Wouldn't spraying methanol help increase timing or am I confused?

Just adding a methanol spray won't automatically increase timing, but constantly spraying methanol would let you increase timing in the tune. Unless you're going to have the map switched (or run something like a flex fuel kit), you can't do that or you'll get a bunch of knock when not spraying the methanol.
