Curious as to the condition of an aftermarket part received...

My apologies if this isn't the place to inquire, but I'm curious about the condition of an invidia front-pipe I purchased from a known online retailer in the FT-86Club community.

Upon receiving the item, the first thing I did (as logic dictates) was to inspect and verify its condition. I found the item to look rather "worn". Both ends of the pipe were oiled, and looking inside, marks of oxidation are present alongside markings, a transparent fluid and an unrecognizable white powder. For lack of a better term, the item looked as though it had been installed and run with a car. However, I can't say I have much experience with exhaust components to be a judge.

I'm not exactly sure this is abnormal, but I expected to receive an item listed as new in a better condition?

The images are rather large, so I figured it'd be for the best if I linked them externally: http://imgur.com/L9vHXBo,vGhefVU,cgy4yAa#0

Appreciate any advice.

I have a catless Invidia front pipe as well, yours is new, not used. Install it and enjoy.

Can you post a picture .. ??

But, like said above ..... it's an exhaust pipe .... if it doesn't have any holes in or it isn't cracked and it fits ..... I'd use it ....

humfrz

PS - if it was "used" they would probably have cleaned it up.

Well, they are ugly ...... but it's on the inside, where people can't see....

I agree with the posters up above; the markings look like they are from the bender and the stain looks to be welding residue.

If it had been used, I would expect to see a dark, carbon residue.
