Cricket sound while running, normal?

I noticed today that while its running (neutral, e-brake up), I can hear a couple of cricket sounds every so often. I've read in the forum that is normal while its off, but is it normal while its running aswell?

It makes the noise at idle speeds... why would it make this noise while its off?

Maybe you are confusing the "cricket" sounds, which can be made by the HP fuel pump (that chirps when the car is running) with the "tinking sound" of the exhaust/heat shields, which are usually just heard when the exhaust is cooling down .... ??

Yea, I meant the ticking sound.

So I'm guessing this is normal then? Sorry for the noob post. I'm just not used to it as my last car was a honda civic and had never ran into this noise before.

It's your turbo cooling down when you turn the car off.

No need to be sorry for your post.....

I've been around many kinds of cooling down engines in my 70+ years and never heard (or at least noticed) as much "cooling down tinking" as my FR-S makes.

The "tinking" is quite normal ..... nothing to worry about .....

The ticking sound is the fuel pump making baby crickets so after 1000 miles or so, your crickets will hatch and provide you with a concerto

Oh, @Zzzquil, don't worry about closing the thread ..... it will just drift down to the bottom. Or maybe you can request admin/moderator close it down.

Don't be reluctant to ask questions, however, much information can be found in the archives of this forum by using the google search engine .... preface your search with ... site:ft86club.com ....... before your criteria ....

Pay no never mind to some of those folks up above who were funnen wich ya ...... they weren't born with automobile knowledge .....
