question about window tint
Hi guys,
Have a question about window tint . . . I recently had my car tinted and there are multiple small "bubbles" that i notice on the drivers window. I've owned many cars over the years but never had one tinted and not sure what is normal/acceptable. . total newbie question I know . . . but wanted to get some input before I bring my car back to the shop. Appreciate your thoughts . . . thanks ! |

it didn't happen to my driver's window but my back window had some small bubbles that went away after a day or two. The place where I got the tints told me that was normal. I wouldn't see why driver's window would be any different

When window tint is applied, there is very very minimal amount of moisture still left between the glass and tint. It takes a few days for the moisture to dry out. its recommended to leave it in the sun for a few days if possible, so that it CAN dry out easily. Also, do NOT roll down the windows for AT LEAST 3-5 days to let the tint adhere 100%. Any bubbles if left out in the sun will seal completely. If AFTER 7 days and the bubbles are still present, call the tint shop, or mobile tint guy whomever you used, and let them know.

If its dirt, get a refund and go somewhere else that has a great rep. I had my FRS tinted by Toyota/Scion in 13', and they used the "DigiFilm'. I just had it retinted 2 weeks, by a Mobile Tinter. He stripped the old tint, and applied the new tint in 1 hour and 20 minutes!! 5% Suntek Carbon all windows with strip, AND 55% Suntek Carbon on the entire windshield. It did have bubbles, but they went away after a few days from the Sun drying them out. |

What everyone said is completely true. I get all of my cars tinted. Give it a week to see what happens. If it is still present after a week, just go back to your tint guy and get it fixed. Expect longer dry times if you are in a cooler environment.
One trick I do is after I get tints done, I put painters tape over the window switches. This way I or my passenger do not accidently roll down the windows. |
