Clear bra scrape removal
A few months ago, a truck swiped my drivers side mirror and barely hit the front fender leaving scratches. Luckily I have a clear bra so there wasn't fender damage and the paint itself wasn't damaged either. I was just wondering if it's possible to remove the scratches without having to replace the bra?
![]() I also noticed today that there's a slight gap on the front bumper, most likely from that incident (since my side marker cracked too) Though it's not a big deal, it's bugging me. ![]() Anything I can do about that? With that said, GO 49ERS!!!

Sure, you can totally polish a clear bra just like you can to the paint. After all, it's clear coated just like the paint is. Just be careful and use a really mild polish. If you can feel the scratches though, it's almost definitely too deep to correct.

I'd try a plastic polish, since the bra is plastic. When it warms up a bit, I'm going to buff mine with Zaino Z-14 "Plastic Magic cleaner and polish". In the reviews a user cleaned up their 3M clear bra with it.

Light scratches can be buffed out by a detailer who has experience working with clear bra. Otherwise some glazes can hide the marks.

fyi, I have VentureShield, which is a 3M product. 3M also has a Scotchgard paint film.
I've used Z-5 on it, which helped get rid of bird stains, but I still have some water spots (acid rain?), which I'm hoping the slightly more aggressive Z-14 takes care of. I'm afraid something like Z-PC would be too aggressive, and when I asked Zaino, they agreed. fyi, from the 3M Scotchgard Film FAQ: Quote:

3M != VentureShield. They bought the company, but the material (and quality) are completely different. The quality of 3M's film is garbage.
That said, Xpel Ultimate is easily the best film I've ever seen or used. It's simply amazing. Super clear, no defects, and self-healing clear coat that really works. The Xpel on my Corvette stayed completely scratch free for the two years I owned it. |

Ya take the bra off. That's why you put it on in the first place. Oh and who the best corner in the game again? Sorry had to throw that in. God I wish he woulda smacked Erin Andrews during that interview.

My installer uses both scotchguard and ventureshield (3M) but I don't know which was used for the fender. I googled info on how to remove scratches before posting this but everyone seemed to have different opinions. Some say use polish, alcohol, heat gun, or something else but apparently some films don't have a clear coat and some producta shouldn't be used. I just don't wanna mess it up even more. You can kinda feel the scuff marks left. I don't expect them to completely go away but I just want to improve it. It's $300 for removal + new installation, so I rather deal with it than have it replaced.

Where did you get your clear bra installation done? I'm looking to get it done on my car that I've had for a couple months and I'm also in Norcal. Any info would be great. Thanks!
P.S. Go NINERS! > Not a Broncos fan but I hope Denver rips Sherman a new one.
