NE Portland Bike Lanes

To all 86ers when you make a decison to head into NE Portland for dinner or any activity let this be a lesson. If you park next to a bike lane, remember to look before opening your door... A bike rider when opening my door flipped over my door taking out the window and if I call this correctly my door is toast.....

Op: you are the one at fault here.

I hope it doesn't cost you too much to report your door.

Situational awareness.

You are personally responsible for every one of your "Can't Brain Today" moments.

What if it was a lifted H1 bearing down when you open your door and hop out?

I'm sorry about your window, and hopefully the bicyclist is alright - unfortunately bicyclist, cars, etc, have no means of knowing if you're going to open your door or not - or even if anyone is in the car necessarily, so be sure to look before opening your door if you're not on the curb-side of the street.

I always check my mirror before opening my door, and I try to open it as little as possible when I get out if I'm on a main street like NW 23rd, etc.

Well said.

Since I hate physical and mechanical pain , I never go to condition white when in the drivers seat.

Red for high speed, heavy traffic, snow storms etc.

Orange for normal driving.

Red after stopping and while getting out of the car.

Yellow when going into the beer store.

White when behind locked doors with my guns and beer.

I used to be a biker and a few pals ended up with a door prize - very painful.

A few hard core cyclists know what they are doing but most don't.

I see lots - no helmet, going through stop signs, riding on sidewalks etc.

I've even seen them texting in heavy rush hour traffic LOL !

Probably natures way of killing them off before they breed.

Impact separated the exterior from the interior subframe. Unfortunately, if the rider was wear something I can see with no lights and all black this could have been avoid. At the end of the day I get a new door..... $3,000 damage

Are you saying this happened at night and the rider had no lights on his or her bike?
