Roll bar for FRS/BRZ
My car was recently used as a platform for a bolt-in roll bar. In exchange for using my car, I got to keep the roll bar. The link to the pictures is here: http://tunersmotorsports.com/?p=2748
I built a dedicated track car and the FRS is my DD. If anyone in interested in this roll bar, please contact me. I would prefer not to ship. It will come with the trimmed plastic panels and trunk floor panel. I ordered new one. |

It has extra bends on the main hoop, and they appear to be crush bends. It also doesn't have a diagonal on the main, something you really do want. I'd rather have a main hoop diagonal than the much less useful X on the rear legs. |

An X (or diagonal) in the main hoop would prevent the driver's seat from reclining as far back as necessary for me. That would have made the bar useless for any taller driver. There are NO crush bends in the tubing.
As a comparison the Cusco has no cross bracing of any kind that I could see, but does retain the use of the rear seat. I consider the rear seat useless anyway and would rather fab up a flat section where the lower seat cushions reside. |

"crush" bends on roll cage tubing is not the same like exhaust parts. Those bends are just fine. That bar seems to be built nicely but the lack of at least a diagonal bar in the main hoop is undesirable. Most track day groups don't have a solid rule book for roll bars but they can reject bars at the scrutinizers discretion so it would be worth looking into before hand.

Yeah the diagonal missing is a killer for me.
As for comparing it to the cusco, which is a dress up item... ![]() -Mike Paisan ![]() Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Enthusiasts since 2001. It's 1.75 OD, what's the wall thickness? Is it DOM or ERW? When it says a custom built mounting plate for the front, how sturdy is that plate? What is the plate connected to?

Do you have any pictures of the main hoop and rear mounting points? For those worried about a diagonal bar, I wonder if you could still add it on and have it done like the Miatacage design below, which is one of the best pre-cut cages out there. You can see the diagonal bar is offset past the driver's seat back area, giving you the most room. Completely SCCA/NASA legal.

I don't see why that couldn't be done. Of course the passenger would be screwed if he had long legs, but who cares, right
![]() I'm sure it could be added to the bar I have but it wouldn't intersect the harness bar as configured. IMHO this is better than nothing for roll protection and better than anything else out there, that retains full seat travel. For a street driven car, this works. I'll try to post a picture of the rear mount, otherwise PM me your email and I can send it direct from my phone. The front mounts have 3 bolts and the rear have two, you can't see the front bolt in the picture I took. http://s1131.photobucket.com/user/ma...tml?sort=3&o=1 |
