Coilover Covers

Saw these when researching proper coilover upkeep and maintenance, especially during the winter months. Never seen them discussed on these particular forums. So here's some quick info on them and a bunch of pictures. Let's discuss!

Anybody use something like this or have anything positive/negative to say about them?

DIY version on NASIOC: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2330815

Just to clarify I would never expect something like this to completely replace proper cleaning and upkeep of the coilovers like powerwashing, cleaning and applying some corrosion protection like boeshield or something. Just something to use in addition to that to make life easier or provide even better protection/longevity to the coilover.

Here's some example photos from that DIY thread after, I believe, a year of having them on without cleaning (not saying that you should only clean once a year).

Rears had them, fronts did not:

Rear covers taken off next to the fronts:

And then both fronts & rears after cleaning (note that the ones with covers appear to be in much better condition):

Looks like some decent results.

Seems like a lot of the people who are skeptical of them say that they will just trap more moisture and dirt inside. Then the people who do recommend them say that they are not airtight sealed and the moisture could easily evaporate and leave the bag and the amount of stuff they keep out is way more significant than the small amount they could possibly keep trapped inside.

What do you guys and gals think?

I like the idea. Though if you were going to the trouble of fitting them you should get the camo ones so that if anyone was intent of stealing your struts/coilovers they wouldn't be able to find them.

What if they think you don't even HAVE a suspension if it's covered in camo? What if YOU forget you have coilovers and order another set??

What if your entire car is in camo and you forgot where you parked in the Amazon??? I took a picture of my car from only 3 meters away and I still have difficulty picking it out of the scenery.

I know the feeling. What if you lost your 458 Italia in a parking lot because it was camouflaged?? I'd be so pissed!
