Opti Coat, How do you wash?

So i'll be getting a 2014 black BRZ. This will be my first ever dark color car. I know black is a pain to keep clean and being honest, I'm not the type to clean my car that often. Which leads me to Opti coating. Will this help make cleaning my car a breeze? Will dirt just spray off when I wash? Will I ever need to wax if opti coat is already applied? Anyone who had opti coat applied to their car, what steps do you take when washing you car? Thank you!

Opti-coat is unfortunately not magic. You're still going to collect dirt, get water spots, get scratches, etc. It might make it more resistant to paint damage, but it's not a miracle product that is going to keep your car in showroom condition with you only having to rinse it off with a hose once a month.

Here are a few tips that work very well for me to assist with keeping a scratch free (or relatively) coating regarding Micro Fiber Towels.
All Free and Clear Laundry detergent, or other MF Cleaning solution.
Warm setting on wash machine
Delicate setting for dryer, or just hang dry
Keep MF towels seperate from all other laundry.

I prefer a dedicated drying towel such as this...

I always pressure wash my clients vehicles first, then do an ONR wash.

Try Garry Dean wash method. I have optium wash and wax no rinse and the Meguiars D115 to lube up the panels even more before wiping it all down. I think the GD wash method is better than 2 bucket system.

The most ideal way to care for an Opti-Coated(or any for that matter) vehicle is to use a pressure washer. This will easily remove all the heavy, damaging abrasives and leave just a non-threathening road film which can easily be washed away.

Agree with the Gary Dean method, though it does use a massive amount of towel and product compare to traditional 2 bucket method.
The water at where I live is extremely corrosive and harsh, if I let it try on my car even on a non--sunny day, it will leave etches. Which means unless I don't drive the car before car wash (warm engine evaporate the water on hood) AND finding a spot that is completely sunless (which is almost impossible given I live in apartment) I am going to get a lot of water mark on my car.

The Gary Dean method is not perfect as well, do notice some very very fine scratches has occur after half a year of washing, but nothing too major, they don't even show up under fluorescent lighting, only shows up if i use the sun as the light source and look at my car at a very specific angle.
Hell..I am not sure if those fine scratches comes from me washing my car... it might be caused by other people simply walking/brushing against my car in parking lot
