Thoughts on tail light tint.

I was thinking about to try to tint them but I have no clue how I would go about it. I think I would have to do the spray tint or buy already blacked out ones.

Unless it's those vinyl overlays that can be removed, forget it.

VHT spray tint is shit simple and looks much better then vinyl overlays if its done right (wet sand, polish, wax). Just look up the diy. It's not reversable but you wont want to go back anyway.

When I cross other fr-s on the road with the stock tails I'm always stunned at how nasty they look.

I did VHT red-out. After the first application was disappointed (blurry, orange peel, utter nastiness), then decided to try sanding down the orange peel and it actually turned out very decent.

Tint is a terrible idea because of the sharp accent edge on the corner of the tail light. The tint would never stick around it. (Said a tint professional)

I redded mine out with metalicast paint and some good clear coat. Looks great.

Good outdoor 3M/Oracal vinyl in skillful hands can manage that edge, but it won't be easy. Better accomplished with two people or a rig of sorts and lots of heatgun magic. Not for the faint of heart and needs a big sheet of vinyl to manage it properly.

Regular tint won't help here of course.

Get them professionally painted. My buddy is a painter and I'm actually mailing out my stock tails today to him to have him smoke/tint. You have to do it the right way though of wet sanding, polishing, etc. They'll look way better than the film and will last as long as normal paint would under normal conditions too.

I've seen them tinted with plasti dip smoke and they came out good. Since it's plasti dip, you can remove it without any consequences and it's pretty durable. I only saw this once though and there was orange peel so was it not done right? Can it be fixed? What about using window tint?

For me, there is no glide in pulse and glide :p

Vht is a good choice honestly. I did the smoked tails for my truck. Looked great till I got pulled over for having black lights. "Goof off"removes it as well, no damage to the lights either.

I'm thinking about redding out mine also.
