MT Upgrade

It seems like every part of this car has a stronger upgrade for it aside from the manual transmission. I thought by now there would a PPG set or something out for this transmission.

Aside from swapping it out for a stronger one that includes custom fab work and more headache than its worth, is there a way to make this transmission handle a decent amount of power?

I have seen very few failures, so I don't know where this view is coming from. What do you consider "a decent amount of power"? Have you been talking to Don & John?

The fundamental issue with "upgrading" a transmission internally is, the real limit is found when the case starts to deform from the pressure of the gears trying to push eachother away.

Yeah Don has a tranny swap available but im more specificly interested in making the stock unit stronger, if at all possible.

Evasive Motorsports? Talked to them and they have no plans on doing any replacements.

Adding a pump and oil cooler will go a long ways towards your transmission holding up under higher loads.

When I was researching transaxles for a race car I wanted to build, I found Porsche transaxles rated for 180hp were magically uprated to 219hp with the only difference being an oil cooler.

A simple, inexpensive setup could use tapped filler and drain plugs with a pump. More elaborate setups have internal spray bars and other stuff.

Bad juju happens when things gets hot.

Yeah it does. When we flat bottom our STi race car the transmission always mysteriously fails so yes cooler gear oil does improve longevity. I'm not sure it miraculously increases it's power capability for something like drag racing or dyno work however.
