Can you remove those window "watermarks"?

There's a mark like that on every single panel of glass.

I'm wondering if any of you have tried to remove it, or if it can be removed at all.

Thanks.

I don't think so... Aren't these etched into the glass?

Etched in... only way to remove is replace the glass. Here is a link on how to repair "minor" glass etching. But I don't think it removes it completely.

Ah OK, I see. I'm guessing there's some legality involved in why cars have this.

I was bothered by the same issue when my car was new. A friend of mine in the auto business suggested I use a very fine steel wool to clean the glass. I admit I never did that but over time (several months) with conventional cleaning the spots eventually went away.

If those spots went away, then it goes against the other replies that say they are etched.

So guys, which is it?

pretty sure they are etched. Ya know so when someone steals your windows they know who to contact. bad joke.

I have the factory ones and the dealer slid theirs in on my deal in finance as well. useless when you think about it. Double useless if you have lojack.
Anything to make a buck though.

Sorry, I was talking about the streaking of the glass that was impossible to remove with conventional glass cleaning methods. My mistake.

you could try pumas and a polishing pad. look and see if you have a glass blowing studio near you they will know what you need.

You guys need to read and take a look at the picture carefully he provided in the first post... He's talking about the "Toyota" markings etched in the glass, not water streak marks... -facepalm-

You're all confusing the poor guy! STAHP IT!

Good point, DaJo .....

tzhu07, if that is etched into the glass, I'm ah feared that you will make it look worse by trying to use hydrofluoric acid to remove the etchings or any kind of abbrasive to "rub them out".

Give them a few weeks, they will disappear from your vision.....

its etched into the glass so it cannot be easily removed and should not be removed. it is required by fmvss 205 s6 regulation to be on the glass.
